Abstract: A system includes an ambulatory medical device and a server. The ambulatory medical device comprises: a digital signal processing module configured to: detect an abnormal rhythm from an electrocardiogram (ECG) signal of a patient using a first signal processing routine; and generate a first flag indicating an abnormal rhythm is detected; and a noise detector module configured to: receive the ECG signal from the digital signal processing module; execute a second signal processing routine to classify the abnormal rhythm as one of an arrhythmia event and a noise event; and, if the abnormal rhythm is classified as a noise event, initiate a preconfirmation period during which the noise detector module continues to evaluate the abnormal rhythm and classify the abnormal rhythm as one of an arrhythmia event and a noise event using the second signal processing routine; and generate a second flag indicating the start of the preconfirmation period; and a server configured to: receive the ECG signal, the first flag indicating the abnormal rhythm, and the second flag indicating the start of the preconfirmation period; and provide a visual indication of the preconfirmation period.

Abstract: A wearable defibrillator includes one or more environmental sensors including an accelerometer, one or more ECG sensors configured to acquire ECG data, and an alarm manager and at least one processor operatively coupled to the one or more ECG sensors and the accelerometer. The at least one processor is configured to detect a cardiac abnormality in the patient, identify a notification having one or more characteristics, and detect an environmental condition of the wearable defibrillator. The accelerometer is configured to detect a presence or lack of patient motion, and/or detect a body position of the patient as the detected environmental condition. The at least one processor is configured to determine whether one or more factors exist that inhibit the patient's ability to recognize the notification, on determining their existence, adapt the one or more characteristics of the notification and provide an adapted notification, and issue the adapted notification.

Abstract: A remote alarm for use with a wearable medical device. The remote alarm is configured to receive alarms, voice messages and prompts issued by the wearable medical device and to repeat those alarms, voice messages and prompts in a manner that can more easily be perceived by a patient wearing the wearable medical device or a bystander. The remote alarm can be configured to receive a communication from the wearable medical device, and in response, to identify one or more messages to be provided to the patient or a bystander. The messages may be provided audibly, visually, tactilely or combinations thereof. The remote alarm may further be configured to take certain actions depending upon the content of the communication, such as sending a telephone message to alert emergency personnel to the identity, location and medical condition of the patient, or sending an email.
