Abstract: According to an embodiment, a bonding strength test device measures bonding strength between a flexure of a suspension of a hard disk drive and microactuators mounted on a gimbal of the flexure. The bonding strength test device includes a clamp, dummy, and device body. The clamp fixes the flexure. The dummy is adhered to the microactuators. The probe is engaged in the dummy. The device body measures a tensile load applied to the probe while the probe is pulled toward a direction to be apart from the flexure.

Abstract: A method for manufacturing steel, by quenching and tempering a seamless pipe for use as a material of a hollow spring, where the seamless pipe including predetermined components is subjected to a heat treatment which is performed to satisfy quenching conditions (1) and tempering conditions (2), (1) quenching conditions: 26,000≦(T1+273)×(log(t1)+20)≦29,000 formula (1) 900° C.≦T1≦1,050° C., 10 seconds≦t1≦1,800 seconds, where T1 is a quenching temperature (° C.), and t1 is a holding time (seconds) in a temperature range of 900° C. or higher, and (2) tempering conditions: 13,000≦(T2+273)×(log(t2)+20)≦15,500 formula (2) T2≦550° C., and t2≦3,600 seconds, where T2 is a tempering temperature (° C.), and t2 is a total time (seconds) from start of heating to completion of cooling.

Abstract: A gimbal assembly of a single or dual stage actuator is provided with gold at a tongue/dimple interface where a dimple of a supporting loadbeam contacts a tongue on the gimbal assembly. Using gold at the tongue/dimple interface greatly reduces the amount of wear particles formed during assembly and operation of the microactuator. The tongue may include a gold coating on the tongue at the tongue/dimple interface, or the tongue may have a hole etched in a stainless steel layer at the tongue/dimple interface to expose a gold layer disposed below the stainless steel layer. The tongue portion of the tongue/dimple interface may also be formed from a gold-coated copper pad with a polymer coating over the gold.

Abstract: In a design method of torsion bars used for a trunk lid, free shapes of the torsion bars unhitched from the trunk lid are designed. A center line model of the initial free shape is geometrically and statically created on the basis of a design specification. The center line model of an open shape is created from the free shape model and is deformed into a center line model of a closed modified shape. The center line models of the analyzed closed shape and the target closed shape is compared with each other to obtain a difference torque and a difference vector occurring between corresponding nodes on the center lines. The center line model is so changed as to decrease the difference torque and the difference vector.

Abstract: A suspension includes a load beam and a flexure. The flexure has a metal base and a conductive circuit portion. Abstract: A vertical motion impeller-type shot peening device performs a second shot peening to a coil spring including first shot peening indentations. A first rough surface including first shot peening indentations is formed on a part of end turn portions of the coil spring. A second rough surface including second shot peening indentations is formed on the entire surface of wire except for the first rough surface.
