摘要: A method of applying a multi-color finish to a plumbing fixture includes depositing a first coating on the plumbing fixture; selectively applying a masking material in a graduated fashion over at least a portion of the first coating to define a gradient from a first portion of the plumbing fixture that is substantially completely covered by the masking material to a second portion of the plumbing fixture that has substantially no masking material; depositing a second coating over the masking material; and removing the masking material from the plumbing fixture such that the plumbing fixture has a surface finish including a transition region representing a gradual transition between the first coating and the second coating.

An article is provided, which includes a metal-based substrate having an overlay metal-based coating disposed on the substrate at an interface. The interface is configured such that a crack formed within the overlay metal-based coating and approaching the interface has a propagation path that is more energetically favorable along the interface than through the interface and into the metal-based substrate.

摘要: A metallic flat product is disclosed which is subjected to surface finishing by hot-dip coating and which is preferably composed of steel. The metallic flat product includes a metallic alloy layer (11) and a metallic surface layer (12′), which metallic alloy layer and metallic surface layer differ from one another in terms of their chemical composition. The two layers (11, 12′) are produced in a one process step and define a continuous transition region (13) in which a mixture of the two different chemical compositions is present. The metallic alloy layer (11) has a thickness of less than 8 μm, preferably less than 6 μm, and the surface layer (12′) is formed from aluminum or zinc. The flat product has an improved coating, by means of which the flat product more effectively satisfies the requirements with regard to good deformability and has good anti-corrosion protection.

摘要: Improved termination features for multilayer electronic components are disclosed. Monolithic components are provided with plated terminations whereby the need for typical thick-film termination stripes is eliminated or greatly simplified. Such termination technology eliminates many typical termination problems and enables a higher number of terminations with finer pitch, which may be especially beneficial on smaller electronic components. The subject plated terminations are guided and anchored by exposed internal electrode tabs and additional anchor tab portions which may optionally extend to the cover layers of a multilayer component. Such anchor tabs may be positioned internally or externally relative to a chip structure to nucleate additional metallized plating material. External anchor tabs positioned on top and bottom sides of a monolithic structure can facilitate the formation of wrap-around plated terminations. The disclosed technology may be utilized with a plurality of monolithic multilayer components, including interdigitated capacitors, multilayer capacitor arrays, and integrated passive components. A variety of different plating techniques and termination materials may be employed in the formation of the subject self-determining plated terminations.

摘要: The present invention provides a copper film with large grains, where, at least one surface, more than 50% area of the copper film is [100]-oriented grains, and the average size of [100]-oriented grains is more than 150 μm. The grains on the copper film have large grain sizes and high preferred orientation, so that the copper film is provided with excellent properties such as flexibility, stability and electro-migration resistance. A copper foil laminate with the above-mentioned copper film is also herein provided.

摘要: Unique and improved chromium coatings derived from modified chromium-containing slurry formulations are disclosed. The slurry formulation includes a combination of a selected halide activator and buffer material that synergistically interact with each other to form chromium diffusion coatings with improved microstructure in comparison to chromium diffusion coatings produced from conventional chromizing processes. The coatings may be locally applied in a controlled manner with accuracy onto various parts, including those having internal sections with complex geometries, without masking any portion thereof.

摘要: A thin diamond film bonded to a diamond substrate made by the process of heating a diamond substrate inside a vacuum chamber to about 500° C., cooling the diamond substrate, coating a first surface of the diamond substrate with chromium, depositing an initial layer of palladium, heating the diamond substrate, allowing the chromium and the diamond substrate to form a chemical bond, inter-diffusing the adhesion layer of chromium and the initial layer of palladium, cooling, depositing palladium, placing a shadow mask, degassing the vacuum, depositing a tin layer, assembling the tin layer, heating the tin layer, melting the tin layer, and bonding the thin diamond film to the diamond substrate. A thin diamond film bonded to a diamond substrate comprising a thin diamond film, a layer of chromium, palladium, tin, and a diamond substrate.

摘要: A coating system for a surface of a superalloy component is provided. The coating system includes a MCrAlY coating on the surface of the superalloy component, where M is Ni, Fe, Co, or a combination thereof. The MCrAlY coating generally has a higher chromium content than the superalloy component. The MCrAlY coating also includes a platinum-group metal aluminide diffusion layer. The MCrAlY coating includes Re, Ta, or a mixture thereof. Methods are also provided for forming a coating system on a surface of a superalloy component.
