Abstract:
A seeding apparatus has a frame and a plurality of furrow openers spaced laterally along the implement frame. A like plurality of singulating meters is provided, each mounted on the frame close to a corresponding furrow opener, and seed tubes are configured to receive singulated seeds from a corresponding singulating meter and deposit the seeds in the furrow created by the corresponding furrow opener. A pressurized air stream conveys seeds through each seed tube and a seed supply supplies seeds to each singulating meter. A meter control operates each singulating meter to provide a variable seeding rate that is independent of the seeding rates of the other singulating meters. A seed catching member follows each furrow opener and catches the seeds exiting the seed tubes to maintain a consistent seed spacing in the furrow.
Abstract:
An agricultural planter has a chassis with a tool bar and at least one row unit. Each row unit is carried by the tool bar and has a fluid actuator and a linkage assembly connecting it to the tool bar. The linkage assembly and fluid actuator allows the row unit to be raised and lowered. A control module is operable to individually raise and lower each row unit on the agricultural planter using the fluid actuator in response to either a manual input, an automatically determined requirement or condition of the at least one row unit, or an automatically determined operating condition of the agricultural planter. The control module is further operable to prevent the raising or lowering of an individual row unit on the agricultural planter based on either a configuration of the agricultural planter or the potential occurrence of an undesirable weight or drag distribution.
Abstract:
One row unit for an agricultural implement includes a ground engaging tool configured to penetrate soil and to form a furrow in the soil. The row unit also includes gauge wheels disposed adjacent to the ground engaging tool and configured to enable the ground engaging tool to penetrate the soil at a selectable penetration depth. Each of the gauge wheels extends substantially parallel to a direction of travel of the row unit.
Abstract:
An agricultural implement including a tool bar and a row unit coupled to the tool bar. The row unit includes a frame member and at least one clamping device coupled to the frame member. Each clamping device has a first member having first interior features and a second member having second interior features, with the first interior features being substantially a mirror image of the second interior features.
Abstract:
A supporting device for operably connecting a furrow device to a seed tube of a planting unit for planting seeds into a furrow is provided. The supporting device may include a clip configured to engage the furrow device and the seed tube. The clip may be at least partially positioned inside the seed tube. The clip may at least partially engage a top surface of the furrow device.
Abstract:
An air seeder apparatus has a frame and a plurality of furrow opener assemblies spaced across a width of the frame at a narrow row spacing, and a plurality of bulk product containers and a bulk meter mounted on each, one of which dispenses seeds through a distribution network to a seed tube on each furrow opener assembly. A plurality of singulating meter is provided, each dispensing singulated seeds to the furrow opener on one of the furrow opener assemblies. During singulating operation seeds are delivered to the singulating furrow opener assemblies only by the singulating seed meter, and during conventional operation seeds are delivered to the singulating furrow opener assemblies only by the bulk meter. A lift system, when in a singulating mode, maintains idle conventional furrow opener assemblies in the transport position while moving singulating furrow opener assemblies between the operating position and the transport position.
Abstract:
A suspension set for an agricultural implement has a first arm; a holder provided to be attached to a portion of the chassis of the agricultural implement and comprising an attachment point for receiving said first arm to allow pivoting of said arm in relation to the attachment point; a first flange associated with said arm opposite to the attachment point; and at least a disc associated with the arm by means of said first flange; wherein said holder comprises a second attachment point to receive a second suspension arm to allow pivoting of said second arm in relation to the second attachment point, wherein the second arm may be inserted in said second attachment point; and said first flange may be replaced by a second flange when said second arm is inserted, wherein said second flange is associated with said first and second arms and with said disc; wherein the insertion of the second arm and the replacement by the second flange provides a pantographic movement to said disc.
Abstract:
An agricultural tool for a tractor tool bar comprises a unit, such as a planter unit, that includes a ground contacting member for performing a working operation on the ground for changing the state of the soil, such as by opening a furrow to receive a seed from the planter unit. A downpressure system for the tool includes a two part telescopic air shock extending between the tool bar and a parallelogram linkage that attaches the unit to the tool bar. A sensor is operatively connected to the portion of the air shock that is attached to the parallelogram linkage for sending a signal representative of the length of the shock to an electronic controller. The controller operates through a feedback loop to attempt to maintain the air shock at a predetermined length which corresponds to a desired amount of downpressure.
Abstract:
A system for planting cover crop seeds in fields with standing row crops. A high-clearance agricultural vehicle is provided with a high-clearance toolbar. A plurality of ground-engaging arm assemblies depend from the toolbar. The toolbar is provided with a plurality of seeders that may be provided on the arm assemblies. The arm assemblies are provided with trailing portions to which are attached soil sealers. The system travels through the field, delivering seeds between rows of standing crops. The soil sealers cover the seeds with soil.
