摘要： A cylindrical ink roller rotates as a result of being in tangential line contact with an adjacent roller that is driven rotationally. The roller is suspended for rotation and axial oscillation on bearing cages including bushing for turning and sliding on the shaft. A plurality of springy curved steel wire ribs have corresponding one ends fastened to the bushing and the ribs extend axially for their corresponding opposite ends to fasten to a ring member which fits inside of the roller. The ribs flex or bend slightly to allow the roller to be forced into perfect parallelism with the adjacent roller. The open ribbed roller suspension cages afford free flow of air axially through the roller for cooling it. One or more fans can be installed in the roller. A mechanism for oscillating the roller axially is confined inside of the roller and so designed that cooling air can flow past it.

摘要： A label imprinting machine has a feed hopper, a stacking hopper, an imprinting station, and a printing head at the imprinting station. Unimprinted labels are transported from the feed hopper to the imprinting station and imprinted labels from then to the stacking hopper. The machine further has a cartridge inking system including a holder for holding an ink cartridge, a pick up ring holding roll, an ink pick up ring on the pick up ring holding roll, an ink distribution roll in driving engagement with the pick up ring holding roll, and a power driven ink transfer roll engaging the printing head and frictionally engaging the ink distribution roll, to regulate the rotational speed of the ink distribution roll and the pick up ring holding roll. The ink distribution roll oscillates back and forth along its axis as it rotates about its axis.

摘要： An imprinter, particularly for use downstream of a flexographic printing machine, wherein the stubs at the ends of the counterpressure roller which forms part of the web guiding system are suspended on levers. The levers are pivotable about a horizontal axis defined by a pivot member on one or more carriages which are movable in the frame up and down to move the counterpressure cylinder nearer to or further away from two printing cylinders. The printing cylinders flank the counterpressure cylinder and their stubs are removably installed in open-sided sockets which are provided therefor in the sidewalls of the frame. Each printing cylinder receives ink from a discrete source.

A plurality or set of ink fountains is provided for removable mounting on either a duplicating machine or a preparation station. Complementary interengaging supports are provided on each ink fountain and each of the duplicating machine and preparation station for selectively and removably mounting an ink fountain on either the duplicating machine or the preparation station. The preparation station includes a housing and light means in the housing behind the ink fountain for directing light through the ink flow through gap of the empty fountain, whereby an operator can readily visualize the gap dimensions while adjusting the same.

摘要： The dampening unit of a rotary printing press is provided with additional transmission components and a swiveling stop mechanism so that the dampening unit can also apply a varnish having an arbitrary viscosity. For applying dampening solution to the plate cylinder (5) of the rotary press, the dampening unit has a fountain roller (13) feeding a transfer roller (15) and an applicator roller (16) which are driven by the press drive. When the dampening unit is used as a varnishing unit, clutches (28, 29) are enabled and disabled so that the transfer roller (15) is driven by a separate drive (17) which rotates the fountain roller (13). The applicator roller (16) is selectively thrown off by pneumatic actuators (32, 35) in such a way that all rollers (14-16) of the dampening unit are connected to each other and can be driven by the separate drive (17). A third position is also defined wherein the applicator roller (16) is also selectively thrown off 5/10 mm from the transfer roller (15). When the applicator roller (16) is thrown off the plate cylinder (11), the fountain roller (16) is preferably thrown on and off periodically by a pneumatic actuator (39).

The control includes plural command switches which are operated to provide control signal inputs to a programmable microprocessor. The microprocessor is connected to the drive circuits for the individual ink metering elements to position them in response to the selected control signals to increase or decrease the amount of ink supplied by each element individually or jointly, and to disable selected ink metering elements by moving them to a zero position so as to select the width of the printing area.

摘要： A rotary printing press comprises a rotatable blanket cylinder and a plate cylinder disposed in rolling engagement with said blanket cylinder. A skew-adjusting means varies the angle between the blanket and plate cylinders. A form roll is disposed in rolling engagement with the plate cylinder. Plate cylinder throw off means moves the plate cylinder to disengage the plate cylinder from the blanket cylinder. The plate cylinder throw off means comprises means for disengagement of said plate cylinder from said blanket cylinder without skew movement of the plate cylinder. Form roll-plate cylinder adjustment means is provided for adjusting the center-to-center distance between the form roll and the plate cylinder. A cam has surface means for maintaining the center-to-center distance between the form roll and the plate cylinder as the plate cylinder is thrown off the blanket cylinder and as the skew adjusting means varies the angle between said blanket and plate cylinders.
