摘要: The present invention intends to provide a two-dimensional photonic crystal having a wide photonic band gap (PBG). In a slab-shaped body 31, a number of holes 32, whose sectional shape on a plane parallel to the slab surface is an equilateral triangle, are periodically arranged in a triangular lattice pattern. The upper and lower sides of the holes 32 are covered with the material of the body 31. The aforementioned sectional shape is uneven along the direction perpendicular to the slab surface. This construction expands the PBG for TM-polarized light and thereby increases its energy region overlapping with the PBG for TE-polarized light. This overlapping section is the complete PBG. If a ray of light whose wavelength corresponds to an energy level within the complete PBG, neither the TE-polarized nor TM-polarized component of the light can be propagated through the photonic crystal. Therefore, even if a waveguide and/or a resonator is provided in the photonic crystal, the light having the aforementioned wavelength will never leak from the waveguide or resonator into the photonic crystal.

摘要: A pad type input device is provided. The pad type input device includes an operation surface which includes a scroll area operated by an operation body. A detector is operative to detect a touch position of the operation body placed on the operation surface as positional information on a coordinate plane. A data processor is operative to acquire an operation signal obtained by the detector to perform a predetermined process. The data processor outputs a scroll signal that moves display contents in a predetermined scroll direction when the operation body placed on the scroll area is in a stop state where the operation body does not move, even after a predetermined time elapses.

The angle of rotation of the magnet is calculated on the basis of signals corresponding to the magnetic field strengths in the radial direction and rotation angle direction detected by the hall element.

In a sheet feed mechanism, a first sheet feeding device includes a first sheet feed roller and a first pressure contact roller that can be in pressure contact with the first sheet feed roller. The cursor-speed determining unit determines cursor moving speed in an X-Y plane direction by a predetermined reference function from an operating force in an X-Y plane direction and an operating force in a perpendicular z axis direction perpendicular to the X-Y plane direction that are detected by the detection unit. The recording unit stores the reference function. The cursor-speed determining unit changes the reference function in accordance with the magnitude of the operating force in the perpendicular Z axis direction, and determines the cursor moving speed in the X-Y plane direction by the changed function.
