There is disclosed an improved switch panel (SP), e.g. for use in automotive vehicles or electronic/electrical apparatus such as white goods or keypads. Modern switch panels, particularly in cars/automobiles, are provided with an increasing number of electronic controls and equipment. A problem has therefore arisen in that a driver/passenger/user can easily become confused when presented with an array of control switches. The invention therefore provides a switch panel (SP) having a panel member (P) and at least one switch member (S), wherein the panel member (P) has a first appearance when front lit, and at least one second appearance when at least a portion thereof is back lit. The back lighting is provided by illumination means controlled by the at least one switch member (S). The at least one switch member (S) is provided on a reverse (rear) side (105) of the panel member (P) and is controlled by a user from an obverse (front) side (100) of the panel member (P).

The metallic keypad panel is provided on one side surface of the adhesive layer and has a thin plate thereon. The plate is provided thereon with a first hollowed portion and a second hollowed portion. The first hollowed portion is set as a pressing region of a key, and the second hollowed portion is set as an icon on the surface of the pressing region. The electroplated layer is provided on one side surface of the metallic keypad panel and penetrates into the first hollowed portion and the second hollowed portion. The ultraviolet curable resin layer is provided on one side surface of the electroplated layer to seal and fill the first hollowed portion and the second hollowed portion. The ultraviolet curable resin layer has a carrier thereon, and one side surface of the carrier is provided with a pattern surface. When external light illuminates the pattern surface of the metallic keypad panel, the pattern surface generates a reflective effect of a ripple luster.

A movable contact assembly includes a base sheet made of insulating film, a contact provided under a bottom surface of the base sheet, and a conductive layer comprising silver paste on the base sheet. The silver paste contains 12 wt % to 15 wt % of resin binder and 35 wt % to 88 wt % of silver particles. The resin binder includes polyester resin having a glass-transition point ranging from 30° C. to 40° C. and an average molecular weight ranging from 30000 to 35000. The silver particles contain 70 wt % to 80 wt % of flake-shaped silver particles and 20 wt % to 30 wt % of dendritic silver particles. This conductive layer of the movable contact assembly can be baked at a low temperature, and does not have cracks and is not peeled off even when being bent. In addition, this conductive layer can easily cope with static electricity and has high reliability.

According to a method of producing a key top for a pushbutton switch of the present invention, a base layer made of an insulating resin that can be plated with metal, an electroless plating layer to be formed on the surface of the base layer, and a polymer coating layer, if required, are stacked on the surface of a key top body. Alternatively, an electroplating layer formed by electroplating is further formed on the electroless plating layer. Therefore, a plating layer can be directly and easily formed on the insulating resin, whereby a key top for a pushbutton switch having a sensation of metal and being rich in design is obtained.

The object of the present invention is to provide a method of manufacturing a metallic switch with high productivity. A transparent printed layer (4) is patterned and formed on a metalizing layer (3) formed on the front surface of a transfer substrate, and the metalizing layer (3) is subjected to etching. The metalizing layer (3) and the transparent printed layer (4) are integrally transferred onto a key top body (6). As a result, the metalizing layer, which has a low strength and can be easily fractured, is protected and reinforced by the transparent printed layer (4), the metalizing layer can be transferred with high stability, and a metallic switch is manufactured in an easy manner and with good efficiency.
