Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for detecting a blockage in the field-of-view of a camera in an image capture system by monitoring changes in the quality of images captured by the camera. As an image is acquired by the camera, intensity values for pixels in the acquired image are determined and stored in a data structure in memory of the camera. Image statistics are calculated based in part on the intensity values for pixels in the currently acquired image and at least some previous images acquired by the camera. If the image statistics satisfy at least one predetermined alert criterion, an alert is triggered. In response to triggering an alert, an alert sensor included as part of the camera is activated to indicate to a user of the image capture system that a possible blockage in the field-of-view of the camera has been detected.
Abstract:
This disclosure provides a method of indicating a subject's reaction to different agents administered to induce anesthesia. In particular, the subject's reaction can be assessed by receiving electrical signals from first and second electrodes spatially distributed on different regions of a subject's head, and by processing the electrical signals from the electrodes to provide a first indicator of the subject's reaction to a first of the agents and a second indicator of the subject's reaction to a second agent.
Abstract:
A method, apparatus, and article of manufacture is configured to define a structured view of data in a computer system. A relational database management system (RDBMS) stores information in the computer system. As part of a process and framework, a series of business rules and process workflows that manage data (that is hierarchical in nature) that resides in one or more RDBMS tables are maintained. User input is accepted that defines a hierarchical structure that is projected onto the data. The hierarchical structure is stored as metadata in the RDBMS. The hierarchical structure is utilized to graphically visualize, manage, and manipulate the data.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatuses for handling multiple failures in an optical network are described herein. In one embodiment, an exemplary method includes receiving a demand for allocating a protection path that meets a set of disjointness constraints with respect to a working path, the protection path suitable to be shared with one or more other working paths, each of the working paths associated with a priority for obtaining the shared protection path, and in response to the demand, selecting a protection path that meets the set of disjointness constraints with respect to the working path and has not been shared with another working path having the same priority as the working path associated with the protection path in demand. Other methods and apparatuses are also described.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus of automatically selecting an optimal ECC algorithm by NAND Flash controller to detect and correct errors to read or write data from or to a flash memory device is described. In one embodiment, the method includes selecting the optimal algorithm by identifying the characteristics of the target flash memory device such as but not limited to redundant data size. The method also includes determining the optimal algorithm based on the application stored in the target flash memory device.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of storage device data encryption and data access via a hardware key are described here. One embodiment includes a hardware key to intercept a request sent from a host to a storage device to access data stored on one of a set of storage devices, wherein the data stored on the storage device has been encrypted. The hardware key is configured to be plugged into a port of the host and comprising a unit to control data access to the set of storage devices. The hardware key is to interpret the request and issue a command to the one of the set of storage devices, to access the encrypted data. The hardware key is to provide an encryption key to decipher the encrypted data from the one of the set of storage devices.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an improved process for the isolation of oleane compounds from the bark of Terminalia arjuna (Roxb.). More particularly, the present invention relates to an improved process for the isolation of arjunic acid and its derivates from the bark of Terminalia arjuna (Roxb.). The present invention further provides the identification of arjunic acid [1] and its derivatives as anticancer agent useful in the treatment of various types of cancer in humans.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are a magnetic memory device and method for storing and retrieving data. The magnetic memory device includes a read disk and a storage disk. The read disk comprises of an array of read heads wherein the individual read head corresponds to a storage element on the storage disk.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for an optical reroutable redundancy scheme. According to one embodiment of the invention, a wavelength division multiplexing optical network includes a number of nodes each having an optical cross connect and each having stored therein a database representing conversion free connectivity from that node to others of the nodes. In addition, each of the nodes employs a source based scheme with the database to provision optical circuits in real time and an optical reroutable redundancy scheme.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for identification and/or diagnosis of REM sleep loss. More particularly, the present invention relates to a method for identification and/or diagnosis of REM sleep loss from blood samples.
