Abstract: A figure-like toy-projectile and launching platform assembly adapted to propel the figure into space by means of an elastic spring concealed in the figure. The figure whose head forms the nose of the projectile includes arms and legs extending from a torso joined to the head, and an elongated cavity in the torso whose front end is an opening in the crotch between the legs and whose rear end lies in an upper region in the torso in line with the head. Received in the cavity is an elastic spring in the form of a condom having a ring and a stretchable shank, the ring being mounted in the crotch opening. The normal length of the shank is such as to create a space between the end of the shank and the end of the cavity to allow for expansion of the shank. The platform is formed by a pad on which is anchored an elongated probe which when the figure is pushed down by a player onto the pad is then inserted through the crotch opening into the condom to stretch the shank to occupy the free space and thereby develop a latent force, whereby when the player releases the figure, the stretched shank then proceeds to resume its normal length and in doing so to produce a thrust force that propels the figure.

Abstract: An integrated assembly formed by a backpack that includes a bag having a front section to which shoulder straps are attached to form loops adapted to receive the arms of a wearer, and a raincoat having a rear panel whose upper section is joined to the front section of the bag, a separable front panel to permit the wearer to don the raincoat, and a pair of sleeves. In the passive mode of the assembly, the raincoat is folded to form a flat compact that lies against the front section of the bag and is joined thereto, the compact then being adjacent the back of the wearer of the backpack. In the active mode of the assembly, the compact is unfolded so that the raincoat then depends from the front section of the bag, the sleeves of the compact then being extended through the loops whereby when the wearer dons the raincoat and inserts his arms through the sleeves, the backpack is then carried over the raincoat.

Abstract: A figurative flying disc toy constituted by an inverted plastic dish having a convex annular rim and soft appendages hinged thereto to impart to the toy the form of a humanoid figure. Each appendage is composed of a fabric pouch stuffed with compressible material, the pouch being shaped and printed to simulate in one appendage the head of the figure and in the other appendages, the arms and legs thereof. To launch the toy, a player grasps one of the appendages which then serves as a handle, and with a flick of the wrist to cause the disc to whirl, the disc is hurled into the air and let fly. The centrifugal forces produced in the flight by the whirling disc causes the hinged appendages to extend outwardly to stabilize the flight.

Abstract: An interactive safety helmet for a bicyclist, making it possible for a group of bicyclists wearing like helmets to communicate with each other and thereby coordinate their activities. The helmet is formed by an outer shell shaped to fit onto the head of the bicyclist and an inner cushioning liner having a pair of miniature loud speakers embedded therein at opposing sides adjacent the ears of the bicyclist. Extending from the shell is a gooseneck supporting a microphone at a position adjacent the mouth of the bicyclist. Mounted on the shell is a miniature radio transceiver whose transmitter section is coupled to the microphone and whose receiver section is coupled to the loud speakers. The transceiver is connected by a line extending from the helmet to an external battery power pack. In operation, a bicyclist wearing the helmet can by talking into the microphone and listening to the loud speakers interact with other bicyclists in the group. The helmet is also provided on either side thereof with an LED safety flashing light powered by the same power pack.

Abstract: A flotation device useable as a life-preserver and a water toy, the device including a casing formed of water-impermeable synthetic plastic film material shaped to define a pocket for receiving a conventional pillow having a compressible filler. Abstract: A squeeze canteen for producing, in situ, a soft drink and then dispensing this drink. The canteen includes a collapsible pouch molded to simulate a known character and provided with a female socket forming the mouth of the pouch. Inserted in the socket is a removable male nozzle plug incorporating a normally-closed valve. Deposited in the pouch is a charge of water-soluble flavor crystals. When cold water is poured into the pouch through its mouth, the crystals are then dissolved to produce a soda drink that is then sealed in the pouch by the plug inserted in the socket. To drink from the canteen, the valve is first opened and the pouch is then squeezed to pressurize the soda drink and discharge it from the nozzle plug.

Abstract: A two-stage toy rocket and spring-loaded launcher assembly which when fired, propels the first stage into space. The first stage of the rocket is a missile molded of resilient plastic material having a solid disc mounted on its rear end encircled by a coupling collar. The second stage is formed by an externally-threaded sleeve whose upper end is received in the rear end collar of the first stage, and is releasable therefrom by a release button which, when actuated, then decouples the first stage from the second stage. The launcher is formed by a platform on which is anchored an internally-threaded shell whose diameter is such that it is threadably receivable in the sleeve of the second stage, a spring being nested in the shell and projecting thereabove. When a player turns the rocket to cause the threaded sleeve of the second stage to advance into the threaded shell of the launcher and thereby compress the spring then interposed between the disc at the rear end of the first stage and the platform, this action develops a strong latent force to cock the toy rocket. To fire the toy rocket, the player actuates the release button to decouple the first stage from the second stage, thereby causing the released spring to apply a powerful thrust force to propel the first stage into space.

Abstract: A composite stand and oven unit adapted to act both as a supporting stand for a cup of coffee or other hot beverage, and as a miniature oven to warm a bagel or other food product normally eaten while drinking the beverage. The unit is formed by a thermally-insulated cylindrical container having an access door in its side wall to receive the food product and a top wall of high thermal conductivity functioning as a heat sink. When a food product at room temperature is placed within the container and a cup of hot beverage, whose temperature is elevated, is seated on the heat sink, thermal energy from the beverage is absorbed by the sink and rapidly transferred to the food product. As a consequence, the temperature of the hot beverage is somewhat lowered to an acceptable drinking level while that of the food product is raised to render the product more palatable.
