Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes selectively updating a time value of the wireless communication apparatus in response to receiving one or more received synchronization messages from other wireless communication apparatuses during the discovery interval, the one or more received synchronization messages comprising one or more received timestamps of the other wireless communication apparatuses, wherein selectively updating the time value comprises updating based on one or more criteria and the received timestamps, and transmitting the synchronization message in response to determining an absence any received synchronization messages during the discovery interval.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for synchronization of wireless devices in a peer-to-peer network are described herein. In one aspect, a method for synchronizing a wireless communication apparatus is provided. The method includes receiving, at the wireless communication apparatus, one or more messages including one or more received time values. The method further includes updating a time value of a clock signal of the wireless communication apparatus to a value derived from the received time values in response to determining that a magnitude of a difference between the time value and the derived time value is greater than a threshold.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and systems are described to enable fair message transmission and to reduce maximum power consumption of stations in a wireless network. For example, a first station of the wireless network may transmit a message including a first neighbor list to a second station of the wireless network. The first neighbor list may identify one or more stations within a particular range of the first station. The second station may selectively transmit, based on a comparison between the first neighbor list and a second neighbor list and a random countdown, a copy of the message including the second neighbor list to another station of the wireless network. The second neighbor list may identify one or more stations within a particular range of the second station.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for transmitting and receiving discovery and paging messages in a wireless communication device are described herein. In one aspect, a wireless apparatus operable in a wireless communication system includes a processor configured to encrypt at least a portion of a discovery packet using one or more credentials of an application that, when executed, provides one or more services, the discovery packet including information for advertising at least one service provided by the application to one or more receiving devices. The wireless apparatus further includes a transmitter configured to transmit the discovery packet for being received by the one or more receiving devices.
Abstract:
Methods, devices, and computer program products for transmitting and receiving discovery and paging messages in a wireless communication device are described herein. In one aspect, a wireless apparatus operable in a wireless communication system includes a discovery engine configured to communicate with a wireless network based on a profile, the profile having defined use parameters, the discovery engine being configured to receive an input from an application indicating a selection of a profile, the discovery engine further configured to receive one or more attributes from the application and configure the profile using the one or more attributes, the attributes containing information to configure the profile to perform certain functions as defined by the application.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of wireless communication are described. One method includes transmitting an indication of a time window for determining a range for wireless communication between a first device and a second device. The method further includes determining the range between the first device and the second device at the indicated time window.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for more efficient mesh associations are disclosed. In some aspects, a non-member device may join a mesh network via a four way message exchange with any member device of the mesh network. The four way message exchange between the mesh member device and the non-member device provides for authentication and association between the two devices. As a result of the four way message exchange, a common group key is provided to the non-member device. The common group key is utilized by all mesh member devices to encrypt and decrypt group addressed mesh messages exchanged between any of the mesh member devices. Association identifiers for each of the two devices are also provided during the exchange. PHY/MAC capabilities may also be exchanged. In some aspects, IP address assignment for the two devices may also be accomplished during the four way message handshake.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for establishing synchronized operations on a data delivery network are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes receiving synchronization information for a neighbor aware network and for a second channel associated with a data delivery network (including a paging window for one of the networks), and receiving service data on the data delivery channels while maintaining synchronization on all data delivery channels using only the synchronization information from the neighbor aware network channel. The synchronization allows devices to increase efficiency by allowing them to sleep, wake-up, send or store data traffic, and receive or transmit indicators of stored data traffic, among other actions, in a coordinated manner such that the devices are awake at the same specified times (e.g., paging windows). Devices may then stay awake to receive or transmit traffic or sleep to conserve power if there is no traffic to send or receive.
Abstract:
Systems and methods for receiving service data from a data path are disclosed. In one aspect, a method includes receiving a message from a neighbor aware network, and decoding the message to determine a communication channel used to provide a service, and an indicator of a paging window for the communication channel. In some aspects, the indicator of the paging window is based on synchronization information for a second communication channel.
Abstract:
A particular method includes generating, at a mobile station, a probe request frame and a service discovery request. At least a first portion of the service discovery request may be encapsulated within the probe request frame to form a modified probe request frame. The modified probe request frame may be wirelessly transmitted, for example, to a particular access point or to all access points with range of the mobile station.
