    Abstract: Frequency-selective single frequency network (SFN) operation is disclosed based on a modified Type-II port selection codebook. Within the channel state information (CSI) feedback procedure, a user equipment (UE) observing the CSI-reference signal (CSI-RS) resource configured by the serving base station with two ports configured over multiple sectors of the serving base station may select a precoder from the Type-II port selection codebook which accommodates additional subband amplitude information. The additional subband amplitude information may include a subband dynamic SFN activation indicator. In such a CSI report selected from the Type-II port selection codebook, the UE may indicate to the serving base station both a wideband SFN activation/deactivation and a subband SFN activation/deactivation in addition to the subband phase information. The serving base station may then use this CSI report to activate/deactivate SFN operations in both wideband and subband over each of the participating sectors.

    Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may determine that the UE has data to transmit. The user equipment may transmit, to a base station (BS) and based at least in part on determining that the UE has the data to transmit, a plurality of communications on a plurality of uplink beams to trigger the BS to perform beam measurements for the uplink beams. The user equipment may receive information that identifies a subset of the plurality of uplink beams to be used for an uplink data transmission based at least in part on transmitting the communications. The user equipment may transmit the uplink data transmission on the subset of the uplink beams based at least in part on receiving the information that identifies the subset of the uplink beams.     Abstract: Aspects of the disclosure relate to millimeter wave (mmWave) device discovery for relay communication using pseudo-omnidirectional beams. A first user equipment (UE) may transmit a synchronization signal over each pseudo-omnidirectional beam to enable a second UE to discover a presence of the second UE within a range of the first UE. Upon the occurrence of an external event, a base station may either trigger a beam training procedure with the second UE to establish a relay link between the first and second UEs or broadcast a message to all UEs requesting a relay link be established with the first UE. The first and second UEs may then select a directional beam pair link (BPL) for the relay link and establish the relay link to enable information to be relayed between the base station and the first UE via the relay link.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may receive configuration information from a base station that indicates a set of resources for the UE to establish sidelink communications with another UE in a wireless network. The UE may transmit a first set of reference signals using a first set of beams to determine a set of neighboring candidate UEs for a sidelink connection. The UE may then transmit a second set of reference signals on a second set of beams to the neighboring candidate UEs, and may select a second UE located in the determined neighboring set using various beam scanning procedures. The UE may identify a transmit beam associated with the second UE, and may establish the sidelink connection using the identified transmit beam.
