    摘要: A lateral electric field type LCD device makes it possible to increase the degree of freedom in designing the constituent elements thereof and to improve the aperture ratio easily compared with the related-art LCD structure. The drain bus lines are entirely covered with the at least one first liquid crystal driving electrode (e.g., the common electrode). The gate bus line corresponding to each pixel region is covered with the at least one first liquid crystal driving electrode except for a predetermined non-overlapped area existing in a part that does not overlap with the corresponding TFT. The predetermined non-overlapped area of the gate bus line corresponding to each pixel region is covered with the storage capacitor electrode corresponding to the adjacent pixel region. Preferably, the at least one first liquid crystal driving electrode comprises openings that expose the channel regions of the TFTs, respectively.

    摘要: Disclosed is an active matrix liquid crystal display device including substrates and a liquid crystal layer. The substrate includes: scan signal wiring lines; common signal wiring lines; video signal wiring lines intersecting these wiring lines; and pixels surrounded with the scan signal wiring lines and the video signal wiring lines. Each of pixels includes: a thin film transistor; source electrodes in a layer with the video signal wiring lines; pixel electrodes connected to the source electrodes; and common electrodes connected to the common signal wiring lines. The source electrodes include first parts overlapping the scan signal wiring lines and second parts connecting with the pixel electrodes, which are positioned around central parts between the video signal wiring lines. Molecular axes in the liquid crystal layer rotate under an electric field applied between the pixel electrodes and the common electrodes.

    摘要: A lateral electric field type active-matrix addressing liquid crystal display device suppresses the lateral cross talk induced by the coupling capacitances (i.e., the parasitic capacitances) between the drain bus lines and the common bus line corresponding thereto with a simple structure. In each of the pixel electrodes, at least one electrically isolated light-shielding electrode is formed to extend along the drain bus lines that define the pixel electrode near the same drain bus lines. The light-shielding electrode is overlapped with a part of a corresponding one of the pixel electrodes to the pixel region in such a way that an insulating film intervenes between the light-shielding electrode and the part, the part extending along these drain bus lines in the vicinities thereof. The light-shielding electrode may be electrically connected to the corresponding one of the pixel electrodes at a point in the pixel region.

    摘要: An active matrix liquid crystal display panel by which a good display characteristic can be obtained without suffering from gradation reversal over a wide visibility angle range. A liquid crystal layer 4 is formed such that the thickness thereof varies in accordance with transmission wavelengths of color layers 6, 7 and 8 so that a very good display which does not exhibit any coloring in whichever direction it is viewed may be obtained. An active matrix substrate A includes a plurality of opposing electrodes 2, a plurality of pixel electrodes 3 parallel to the opposing electrodes 2, a thin film transistor, and an orientation film 23 all formed on a glass substrate 10. A color filter substrate C includes an orientation film 56 provided on one surface of another glass substrate 10 and an optical compensation layer 35 provided on the other surface of the glass substrate 10 and formed from a plastic film. The two substrates are disposed such that the orientation films thereof oppose each other, and polarization plates 34 and 5 are disposed on the outer sides of the two substrates, and a liquid crystal layer 4 having a positive refractive index anisotropy is provided between the orientation films 23. The optical compensation layer 35 has a negative one axial refractive index anisotropy and can cancel a retardation produced in the liquid crystal layer 4 thereby to suppress white floating of a black display portion.
