Abstract:
An ovality measurement tool for measurement of ovality of a circumferentially deformable cylindrical element having a cylindrical element support, a sensing element for traversing the circumference of the cylindrical element, which sensing element is movable radially with respect to the cylindrical element, and a readout device for reading the amount of movement of the sensing element as it traverses the circumference of the cylindrical element.
Abstract:
A sensor arm (1) is inserted into a hole (3). The arm is mounted on a pivot (5) perpendicular to the arm axis so that it may be urged into engagement with the wall of the hole, e.g. by an air cylinder (12). The pivot (5) is in turn rotated about an axis passing through the hole, preferably by means of a rotary body (10). A bearing piece (16) controlling the sensor arm may be moved towards or away from the hole and rigidly supports a light sensor (8) that receives a light beam (7) from the sensor arm. The geometry of the hole is determined on the basis of the position where the light beam impinges on the sensor and the position of the bearing piece relative to the hole.
Abstract:
Disclosed is an apparatus for measuring a dimension of a manufactured article to be worked on a cylindrical grinding machine. The apparatus includes non contact-type measuring sensors capable of measuring the outer diameter and cylindricity of the manufactured article while the manufactured article is mounted on the cylindrical grinding machine. The apparatus comprises a main body which is positioned above a cylindrical grinding machine. The main body includes a bed having a through opening formed through a center thereof and a plurality of support members for supporting the bed. A sensor attachment of the apparatus is positioned on the bed. A sensor attachment includes at least two pairs of non contact-type measuring sensors. The pairs of non contact-type measuring sensors are spaced opposite from each other in order to measure the outer diameter and cylindricity of the manufactured article. A feed mechanism of the apparatus moves the sensor attachment to a predetermined position for measuring the dimension of the manufactured article. A control panel of the apparatus controls the positioning and the operational signal of the feed mechanism. A master controller of the apparatus processes the measured data transmitted from the non contact-type measuring sensors.
Abstract:
An apparatus is disclosed for checking the geometric characteristics of mechanical objects having rotational symmetry, such as shafts or bushings. A longitudinal support element defines a longitudinal axis and first reference surfaces, at least one modular coupling element is removably coupled to, and is adjustable longitudinally along, the longitudinal support element and provides second reference surfaces which cooperate with the first reference surfaces to align a linear guide portion transversely of the longitudinal axis. A fastener secures the modular coupling element, which removably supports a gauging device, to the longitudinal support element and a locking/unlocking device cooperates with the gauging device and guide portion for locking the gauging device to the modular coupling element.
Abstract:
A rolling digital surface measurement apparatus which measures and records the second elevation differences between a plurality of sequentially oriented, regularly spaced, co-linear points which lie on the surface, and which then computes the elevations of those points relative to a datum line established relative to any two points in the sequence by assuming that the mean curvatures of the tested surface are equal to zero in order to remove the inevitable effects of error compounding.
Abstract:
A gage apparatus for determining uniformity in the inside or outside diameter of flexible rings and generally round objects based on the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter. A spring biased lever pivotally mounted on a support plate has a releasable clamp at one end. An indicator is engaged with the lever to indicate the amount of pivotal movement thereof. A thin flexible band of stiff material has one end secured to a spool on the support plate and a portion of its length passes slidably through the clamp and forms a circular loop and its terminal end is fixed to the clamp. The ratio of the distance from the pivot point of the lever to the connection with the band is pi (3.1416) times the distance from the pivot point to the connection with the indicator whereby circumferential measurements are converted and indicated as diametric measurements. As the lever pivots, the diameter of the circular looped portion of the band will increase or decrease.
Abstract:
An electronic saddle micrometer to measure the differential diameter and the profile of cylindrical rolls used in flat rolled product mills, which permits continuous and accurate measurement and recording of profile data over the entire length of the roll without repositioning the measuring arm assembly, by means of a dual set of measuring arm assemblies, one at each end of the saddle.
Abstract:
An apparatus for gaging the contour of a machined part includes a rotary slide assembly, a kinematic mount to move the apparatus into and out of position for measuring the part while the part is still on the machining apparatus, a linear probe assembly with a suspension arm and a probe assembly including as probe tip for providing a measure of linear displacement of the tip on the surface of the part, a means for changing relative positions between the part and the probe tip, and a means for recording data points representing linear positions of the probe tip at prescribed rotation intervals in the position changes between the part and the probe tip.
Abstract:
A roundness calibration standard is provided with a first arc constituting the major portion of a circle and a second arc lying between the remainder of the circle and the chord extending between the ends of said first arc.
