Abstract:
A scalable encoding apparatus capable of reducing the bit rates of encoded parameters and also capable of efficiently encoding even audio signals in which a plurality of harmonic structures are coexistent. In the apparatus, an MDCT analyzing part (111) MDCT analyzes an audio signal (S15) for converting/encoding processes. A pitch frequency converting part (112) determines the inverse of a pitch period to calculate a pitch frequency. A selecting part (113) selects spectra located at frequencies that are integral multiples of the pitch frequency. A second layer encoding part (106) encodes the selected spectra.
Abstract:
When the rotational speed of rotatable heating means for thermally fixing an image on a recording paper is changed from a first rotational speed of the highest level to a second rotational speed of the lowest level by changing the operation mode of a fixing device, the direct change from the first rotational speed to the second one may increase the overshoot of the temperature of the heating means. This shortens the life of the belt and causes an error of abnormally high temperature. To avoid an excessive overshoot of the temperature of the heating means, after the heating means is rotated for a predetermined time at a third rotational speed between the first and second rotational speeds, the rotational speed is changed to the second one.

A disk drive includes a magnetic recording medium rotatably supported, a spindle motor for spinning the recording medium, a slider having a head, a supporting arm having the slider at a first end facing the recording medium, a bearing for holding the supporting arm rotatably along a recording surface of the medium and pivotably in a vertical direction with respect to the recording surface, a leaf spring giving thrusting force to a first end of the supporting arm toward the medium, and a driver for rotating the supporting arm along the recording surface. When the driver rotates the supporting arm along the recording surface and parks the head in a given evacuation area on the recording surface, a second end of the supporting arm is depressed.

An upper electrode (50) includes a first electrode section (51) formed in a circle and a second electrode section (52) formed in an annulus outside of the first electrode section (51). The first electrode section (51) and the second electrode section (52) are electrically separated from each other via an insulating region and have shapes of a circle and an annulus which are concentric. A lower electrode (30) includes a third electrode section (31) formed in a circle and a fourth electrode section (32) formed in an annulus outside of the third electrode section (31). Similarly, the third electrode section (31) and the fourth electrode section (32) are electrically separated from each other via an insulating region and have shapes of a circle and an annulus which are concentric. Further, the third electrode section (31) is provided so as to face the first electrode section (51) via the piezoelectric body (40) and the fourth electrode section (32) is provided so as to face the second electrode section (52) via the piezoelectric body (40), respectively.
Abstract:
An electric vacuum cleaner includes an electric blower, a driver for driving the electric blower, a determination controller for controlling the electric power supply to the electric blower by transmitting a signal to the driver, and a dust amount sensor for sensing the amounts of dusts of different sizes. The determination controller controls the electric power supply to the electric blower based on the amounts of dusts of the different sizes sensed by the dust amount sensor.
Abstract:
A protective insulating film is deposited over first and second field-effect transistors formed on a semiconductor substrate. A capacitor composed of a capacitor lower electrode, a capacitor insulating film composed of an insulating metal oxide film, and a capacitor upper electrode is formed on the protective insulating film. A first contact plug formed in the protective insulating film provides a direct connection between the capacitor lower electrode and an impurity diffusion layer of the first field-effect transistor. A second contact plug formed in the protective insulating film provides a direct connection between the capacitor upper electrode and an impurity diffusion layer of the second field-effect transistor.

A drum type washing machine includes a housing; a rotary drum having a substantially horizontal or slanted rotational axis; a water tub, suspended in the housing, for accommodating therein the rotary drum; a controller for controlling an operation of the washing machine; and a displacement detecting unit disposed between the water tub and a base portion of the housing, for detecting displacement of the water tub. The displacement detecting unit has a primary coil wound around a bobbin; a first secondary coil without overlapping the primary coil and a second secondary coil overlapping the primary coil, the first and the second secondary coils being wound coaxially with the primary coil; and a magnetic body vertically movable inside the bobbin corresponding to a displacement of the water tub.

Abstract:
The present invention solves such a problem that a scroll parameter did not fit in with an operator intuition. A scroll controlling program is stored in the HDD 12. The scroll controlling program controls a CPU 14 to function as a controller that changes a scroll parameter (a scroll initial velocity Vs0 and a scroll duration T) in response to contact coordinate data outputted before termination of the contact with a touch panel 24. In this scroll controlling program, the scroll initial velocity Vs0 is defined by an operation expression “Vs0=F(Vtc)” using a change rate Vtc of the contact coordinate as a variable. In contrast, the scroll duration T is defined by an operation expression “T=G(L)” using a change amount L of the contact coordinate as a variable.
