摘要： A system and method for redirecting data to a mobile device having a long-range RF transceiver and a short-range RF transceiver is provided. The system determines whether the mobile device is in physical proximity to the short-range RF network, and if so, redirects data to the mobile device via the short-range RF network, and if not, redirects data to the mobile device via the long-range RF network. Multiple methods for determining the physical location of the mobile device are provided. Also provided is a short-range RF network including a plurality of RF-enabled interface cradles for generating a network of pico-cells within one or more office locations. As a mobile device comes within the vicinity of one of these pico-cells, contact information is provided to the system indicating the phyiscal location of the mobile device.

摘要： A method for initiating telephone calls from a mobile device which operates in a wireless communication network, including: displaying text on a visual display of the mobile device; moving a position marker on the visual display throughout the displayed text in response to a navigational input by a user to the mobile device; monitoring for a predetermined user input to the mobile device and upon detecting the predetermined user input causing a list of user selectable functions to be displayed on the visual display; determining if the position marker is located within a non-hyperlinked number string in the displayed text when the predetermined user input is detected and if so, causing the displayed list of user selectable functions to include a telephone call function for initiating a telephone call to the non-hyperlinked number string; and causing, if a user selects from the list of functions the initiate a telephone call function, a telephone call to the non-hyperlinked number string to be initiated through the wireless communications network.

The mobile device working in a network capable of exchanging both cell phone calls and data items to the mobile device. By wearing an earphone or an ear-bud device the user is capable of dealing with voice conversations while working with data centric information related to the current caller. By providing a data-centric device with voice capabilities there is a new range of features that allow incoming data events to trigger outgoing voice events.

摘要： A computer implemented method of presenting booked time slots and free time slots in a calendar application user interface is provided. The method comprises the steps of presenting a compact view showing only booked time slots; and expanding a time block selected from the compact view in response to input to present a detailed view of the time block in the context of the compact view. The detailed view is defined to show booked time slots and free time slots of the time block. The method may also comprise collapsing the time block to remove the detailed view from the compact view. A handheld device and a computer program product are also provided.

摘要： Devices and methods for placing a call from a mobile device on one of a plurality of communication lines accessible at the mobile device are disclosed herein. After the initiation of a call at the mobile device is detected, an audio prompt is output to the user requesting a line selection. In at least one embodiment, the audio prompt is a voice prompt. After receiving user input identifying the line selection, a selected communication line is identified and the call is placed on the selected communication line. In at least one embodiment, the user input received is voice input.

Upon direction from the user that a picture is to be taken with the camera of the mobile device, an image is initially captured and temporarily stored at a first resolution (e.g. a maximum resolution). This may be, for example, the highest resolution setting that might be specified by a user of the camera. The user is then queried for a specific second resolution at which the image is to be subsequently stored, for example, in a non-volatile memory on the mobile device.

摘要： A system and method for pushing information from a host system to a mobile data communication device upon sensing a triggering event is disclosed. A redirector program operating at the host system enables a user to continuously redirect user-selected data items from the host system to the user's mobile data communication device upon detecting that one or more user-defined triggering events has occurred. The redirector program operates in connection with event generating applications and repackaging systems at the host system to configure and detect particular user-defined events, and then to repackage the user-selected data items in an electronic wrapper prior to pushing the data items to the mobile device. The system includes information processing components for identifying one or more information processors in the vicinity of the mobile device and then routing an attachment or information from the host system, the device or an external information source to a selected information processor.

摘要： Methods and apparatus for use by a mobile communication device in facilitating voice calls through a wireless local area network (WLAN) and a wireless wide area network (WWAN) are disclosed. When switching communication operations from a WLAN coverage region of the WLAN to a WWAN coverage region of the WWAN, the mobile device causes a message for forwarding voice calls to a WWAN identification number of the mobile device to be transmitted through the WLAN. The mobile device subsequently causes a message for cancelling the forwarding of voice calls to a WLAN identification number of the mobile device to be transmitted through the WWAN. When switching communication operations from the WWAN coverage region of the WWAN to the WLAN coverage region of the WLAN, the mobile device causes a message for forwarding voice calls to the WLAN identification number of the mobile device to be transmitted through the WWAN. The mobile device subsequently causes a message for cancelling the forwarding of voice calls to the WWAN telephone number of the mobile device to be transmitted through the WLAN. Other additional and alternative techniques are described for reliable reachability.
