Abstract:
A method of detecting an occurrence of an error event in data and an apparatus for the same are provided. The method includes: preparing an error detection code wherein syndrome sequences for dominant error events are all different; generating a codeword from source data using the error detection code; detecting the occurrence of the dominant error event in the codeword by checking a syndrome computed from the codeword; and determining a type and likely error starting positions of the occurred dominant error event using the syndrome sequences correspond to the syndrome.

Abstract:
The present invention provides polypeptides having a nucleotide polymerase activity and method of enhancing polymerase activity. The polypeptides of the present invention may posses both a DNA-dependent DNA polymerase activity and an RNA-dependent DNA polymerase activity, i.e., a reverse transcriptase activity. The polypeptides of the present invention may be used in any application including, but not limited to, DNA sequencing reactions, amplification reactions, cDNA synthesis reactions, and combined cDNA synthesis and amplification reactions, e.g., RT-PCR.

A music composing device includes a user interface for receiving a melody from a user, a melody generator for generating a melody file corresponding to the received melody, a harmony accompaniment generator for generating a harmony accompaniment file suitable for the melody through analysis of the melody file, and a music generator for generating a music file by synthesizing the melody file and the harmony accompaniment file.
Abstract:
The present invention provides multi-component inhibitors of nucleic acid polymerases, methods of making, and methods of using same. One component of the multi-component inhibitor is a molecule that binds to a polymerase (i.e., a polymerase-binding molecule (PBM)), but does not thereby substantially inhibit its polymerase activity. Another component is a molecule or complex of molecules that binds to a PBM (i.e., a PBM-binding molecule). The combination of the PBM and PBM-binding molecule/complex substantially inhibits polymerase activity. The disclosed multi-component inhibitors are useful for DNA sequencing, nucleic acid amplification, cloning and synthesis, and the like.
Abstract:
A cyclone cleaner that enables noise frequencies generated in a plurality of cyclone chambers to be different from one another, thereby preventing noise from overlapping at a specific frequency bandwidth, and therefore, reducing noise. The cyclonic cleaner includes a suction unit, a cyclonic separating apparatus, and a blowing unit. The cyclonic separating apparatus includes a housing, a plurality of cyclone chambers disposed in the housing in the circumferential direction thereof, and a plurality of partitions disposed between the respective cyclone chambers to mount the cyclone chambers in a plurality of individual divided spaces, respectively. The partitions are arranged such that angles between the respective adjacent pairs of partitions are different from one another. Also, the partitions are arranged such that the intervals between the respective partitions are different from one another, and the divided spaces have different capacities.
Abstract:
A slit coater including buffer members having elasticity and installed at both sides of a slit nozzle unit, compensating for a height difference between both sides, preventing breakdown due to excessive stress generated by the height, and reducing set-up time. The slit coater includes: a table on which an object to be processed is mounted; a slit nozzle unit formed above the table for applying coating solution onto the object; a driving unit moving the slit nozzle unit in a predetermined direction; and buffer members having elasticity installed at both sides of the slit nozzle unit.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are an apparatus for and a method of bonding a nano-tip using electrochemical etching, in which a good bonding stability can be provided. The nano-tip bonding apparatus comprises a glass plate having a top surface of a certain desired area. An electrolytic solution having conductivity is placed on the top surface of the glass plate by means of surface tension. Means for moving reciprocally a base material having conductivity in opposite direction is provided. A carbon nano-tube is adhered to a pointed tip of the base material by means of an adhesive. An end portion of the carbon nano-tube is to be immersed in the electrolytic solution. A power supply is provided for applying an electric power to the electrolytic solution and the base material.
Abstract:
Apparatuses and methods for detecting error events in a codeword reproduced by perpendicular magnetic recording medium (PMR. The method includes: generating cyclic redundancy check (CRC) parity bits based on a generator polynomial for a source information sequence to be recorded on PMR medium and recording a codeword in which the generated CRC parity bits are added to the source information sequence; and reading the recorded codeword and an error event in the read codeword. It is possible to detect error events when a codeword recorded by PMR is read, using a small number of bits.
