Abstract: Certain aspects of the disclosure provide techniques for random access channel (RACH) power control, including for message (MSGA) transmission by a user equipment (UE) for two-step RACH procedure. Certain aspects provide a method for wireless communication generally including determining a transmit power for transmitting a first message to a base station (BS) as part of a two-step RACH procedure, the first message comprising a first part and a second part. Determining the transmit power comprises determining a first transmit power for transmitting the first part based on a first function having parameters including a power ramping counter and a power ramping step. Determining the transmit power further comprises determining a second transmit power for transmitting the second part based on a second function having parameters including the power ramping counter and the power ramping step. The method further includes incrementing the power ramping counter based on transmitting the first message.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described that provide for system information (SI) for access and backhaul. An access node (AN) may provide SI to devices within its cell indicating communication procedure configurations. The AN may provide SI to devices that is specific to whether the communication procedure is an access procedure or a backhaul procedure. The AN may transmit a common master information block (MIB) directing the devices within its cell to a search space in order to receive the remaining SI. The search space may be shared between access devices and backhaul devices or alternatively may be separate between access and backhaul devices. The remaining SI may not be shared between access and backhaul devices. The devices may determine different configurations as defined by the SI from the AN for communications procedures based on whether the procedure is an access procedure or a backhaul procedure.

Abstract: Backhaul resources may be allocated to different wireless communication links between different base stations, and local redistribution of resources among base stations may be utilized to account for variations in signal quality and/or variations in traffic experienced by different nodes of the backhaul network. A first access node function (ANF) may determine a need for additional backhaul resources, and may transmit a request message to one or more user equipment functions (UEFs) for additional backhaul resources. A UEF that receives the request message may forward the request to an associated second ANF. The second ANF, if it has backhaul resources available that the first ANF can use, may send a response to the first ANF, via the associated UEF, and the first ANF may use the additional resources that were originally allocated to the second ANF.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A user equipment (UE) may transmit two or more connection requests prior to expiration of a UE connection response window. In some examples, the UE may re-set a UE connection response window each time the UE transmits a connection request. In some examples, the base station and UE may set their respective connection response windows after the UE transmits connections requests in a set of consecutive transmission opportunities. In some examples, the base station and UE may set their respective connection response windows based at least in part on a first available transmission opportunity. In some examples, the UE may include an indication of a position in a transmission sequence in the connection response, and the base station may set the UE connection response window based at least in part on the indication.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for adjusting communication timings of beams (e.g., of beam pair links) within a beam timing advance group (TAG). In some cases, a base station may determine that transmission timing at a UE may be misaligned between multiple beams. The base station may configure a set of beams into a beam TAG, and may send a timing advance (TA) command for the beam TAG. A common timing reference value may be identified based on the TA command. UEs performing uplink transmissions may determine a TA value for the beam TAG based on the common timing reference value, and may adjust a communication timing for one or more of the beams within the beam TAG based at least in part on the common timing reference value and the timing advance value.
