Abstract: Aspects are provided that allow a base station to provide a user equipment (UE) multiple timing opportunities to transmit an acknowledgment to a pre-grant (APG) after receiving a pre-grant for a downlink transmission. The base station transmits to the UE a pre-grant for a downlink transmission from the base station, the pre-grant triggering a plurality of timing opportunities for the UE to send an APG to the base station. The UE performs, after receiving the pre-grant, a clear channel assessment (CCA) during at least one timing opportunity of the plurality of timing opportunities. The UE transmits one or more APGs to the base station when the CCA is successful, and the UE receives the downlink transmission from the base station in response to the one or more APGs. The UE transmits the one or more APGs to the base station until the downlink transmission is received from the base station.

Abstract: Aspects are provided which improve LBT by associating contention windows with transmission burst lengths and by allowing contention windows and maximum burst lengths to be adjusted based on interference activity. For downlink, a UE receives a PG for a downlink transmission from a base station indicating a CCA length based on a contention window size associated at least with a burst length for the downlink transmission. The UE performs, after receiving the pre-grant, a CCA based on the CCA length, transmits an APG to the base station when the CCA is successful, and receives the downlink transmission in response to the APG. For uplink, the base station performs a CCA based on a contention window associated at least with a burst length for an uplink transmission, transmits an uplink grant to the UE when the CCA is successful, and receives the uplink transmission in response to the uplink grant.

In one aspect, an initiating wireless device may determine whether a pre-grant acknowledgement associated with a first beam has been received from a responding wireless device within an expected receive time. The initiating wireless device may generate an indication to prevent the initiating wireless device from using the first beam for a blocking duration in response to determining that the pre-grant acknowledgement associated with the first beam has not been received within the expected receive time.

Abstract: A wireless communication system utilizes a synchronization signal block (SSB) structure to enable beam switching at higher sub carrier spacing (SCS) or uplink transmissions within an SSB. The SSB structure has a first SCS for an SSB transmission and a second SCS for a data transmission. The SSB structure is based on the first SCS and the second SCS, with the SSB structure including at least one gap between SSB symbols or between SSBs. The wireless communication system transmits or receives an SSB based on the SSB structure. A base station may transmit a downlink signal during the gap, for example, where the second SCS is much greater than the first SCS. A user equipment may transmit an uplink signal such as an acknowledgment during the at least one gap. The user equipment or the base station may perform analog beam switching during the at least one gap between SSBs.

In some implementations, a UE (or other wireless communication device) participating in a positioning operation may transmit and receive positioning signals on an unlicensed radio band, and may transmit and receive non-positioning signals on a V2X channel (or on another suitable channel) of a radio access network (RAN). The positioning signals may include positioning reference signals (PRSs) associated with observed time difference of arrival (OTDOA) positioning operations, ranging signals associated with round-trip time (RTT) positioning operations, or other suitable signals from which the position of the UE can be determined.

Abstract: In an embodiment, an apparatus (e.g., eNB) pages UEs on a shared communication. The apparatus obtains paging message(s) for transmission to UEs with different coverage levels. The apparatus transmits an extended common ePDCCH, followed by a paging ePDCCH, followed by repetitive transmissions of the paging message(s) over a plurality of PDSCH subframes. In a further embodiment, the apparatus obtains first and second sets of paging messages for transmission to different paging groups. The apparatus establishes non-overlapping POWs for the first and second paging groups to avoid a paging ePDCCH collision.
