Abstract:
A method and apparatus for estimating oscillator signal variation due to temperature and for providing an estimated frequency to a GPS receiver in order to assist the GPS receiver to acquire the signals quickly is disclosed. A temperature sensor is closely thermally coupled with the crystal oscillator in the GPS receiver and during GPS tracking mode, when the error in the oscillator signal is known with precision, outer bounds of TCXO frequency at given temperatures are maintained, which may correspond to rising and falling temperature conditions. During acquisition mode, an estimated frequency value is provided to the GPS receiver based on a determined average of these bounds. Optionally, an uncertainty factor associated with the frequency estimated may also be provided. The two bounds take into account the hysteresis effects of the oscillator signal drift due to temperature so that a more accurate initial frequency estimate can be provided to the GPS receiver, thus reducing its average time to first fix.
Abstract:
In accordance with the teachings described herein, systems and methods are provided for battery capacity estimation. A profile table may be used that relates a plurality of battery profile values with a plurality of operating parameter values. The profile table may be accessed to translate one or more measured operating parameters into one or more corresponding battery profile values. One or more of the battery profile values may be adjusted by a correction factor to generate a corrected battery profile value. The available capacity of the battery may be calculated using the corrected battery profile value. The correction factor may then be automatically calibrated by using an estimated battery profile value calculated from the one or more measured operating parameter.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a fuser roller composition that contains a fluorocopolymer, an aliphatic ketone organic solvent, metal oxide particles, and a benzyltriphenylphosphonium phenolate salt curing agent. To this composition is added a sufficient amount of 4,4′-(hexafluoroisopropylidene) diphenol to extend a time at which viscosity of the composition rises above a predetermined level.
Abstract:
A method of making polymeric particles having a controlled size and size distribution, and in particular a method for the preparation of chemically prepared toners, via evaporative limited coalescence process, wherein basic silicate salts are employed to remove particulate stabilizer from precipitated polymer particles. The process includes the steps of dispersing polymeric binder materials and optional additives in an organic solvent to form an organic phase. The organic phase is dispersed by high shear agitation in an aqueous phase containing a particulate stabilizer, e.g. colloidal silica, to form a dispersion of small droplets of the organic phase in the aqueous phase. The dispersion is homogenized and the organic solvent is removed from the dispersed particles in the dispersion by evaporation, and polymeric particles are precipitated with particulate stabilizer on the surface thereof, which are then recovered, treated with a basic silicate salt to remove particulate stabilizer, and washed and dried.
Abstract:
A transmitter for a mobile device utilizes at least one mapper in order to improve power efficiency while still meeting out of band spurious emissions and waveform quality requirements. An encoder and modulator generates an encoded and modulated transmit signal from an input signal. A digital to analog converter coupled to the encoder and modulator generates an analog representation of the encoded and modulated transmit signal. An amplifier stage coupled to the digital to analog converter amplifies the analog representation of the encoded and modulated transmit signal to generate a transmission signal. The transmitter further comprises an amplifier control block configured to generate an amplifier control signal for adjusting at least one parameter of the amplifier stage. At least one mapper is provided in the amplifier control block, used to determine the amplifier control signal based on a peak to average power ratio and an average transmit power of the transmission signal. Environmental and operating conditions of the transmitter may be accounted for as well in the mappers.
Abstract:
Methods and apparatus for facilitating the determination of Global Positioning System (GPS) location information for a mobile station without disrupting communications of a voice call (e.g. a 911 emergency call). In one illustrative example, the mobile station causes GPS navigational-type data to be regularly or periodically received and stored in memory prior to the voice call. At some point in time, the mobile station receives a voice call request to initiate the voice call. In response, the mobile station derives GPS assistance data based on the GPS navigational-type data. The mobile station then causes a GPS fix to be performed using the GPS assistance data, to thereby obtain GPS measurement data. Thereafter, the mobile station causes the voice call to be established and maintained through the wireless network.
Abstract:
The application relates to wireless networks and more particularly to a method of reducing factory test time of receiver sensitivity in a Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) wireless device. Under TIA/EIA/-98E, the radio frequency (RF) sensitivity of a CDMA wireless receiver is the minimum received power, measured at the mobile station antenna connector, at which the frame error rate (FER) does not exceed 0.5% with 95% confidence. In order to reduce the test time of FER test method, the relation between correlated energy (or Ec/Io) and FER is determined using simulated traffic and the correlated energy (or Ec/Io) measurement is then used as the test parameter on like models to achieve the same or superior test confidence with significantly reduced test time.
Abstract:
The settling time of a wireless receiver is reduced by providing a previously utilized gain control state value to an amplifier of a receiver front end during a warm-up portion of a wake-up period of the wireless receiver which follows a sleep period. One illustrative method includes the steps of receiving a notification signal which indicates that the wireless receiver is to be placed in a sleep mode, reading a gain control state value from a gain controller based on receiving the notification signal, storing the gain control state value in memory, providing the stored gain control state value from the memory to the wireless receiver during a warm-up period of a second wake-up period following the first wake-up period, and providing a gain control state value from the gain controller to the wireless receiver based on a signal level of a currently received signal of the wireless receiver after the warm-up period.
Abstract:
A mobile device detects whether its temperature is within a first or second range of values, and operates in a full communication state within the first range and a limited communication state within the second range. The mobile device receives a communication request for establishment of a voice call or for communication of a user data message. In the full communication state, the mobile device permits an emergency or non-emergency voice call to be established, and permits a user data message to be communicated. In the limited communication state, the mobile device inhibits a non-emergency voice call from being established, but permits an emergency voice call to be established.
Abstract:
Disclosed are polymers which include tertiary aryl amine moieties that can function as hole transport agents and which also have reactive silane groups thereon capable of being condensed to a silsesquioxane composition, as well as the silsesquioxane compositions prepared therefrom. The silsesquioxanes can be coated onto substrates to form abrasion-resistant layers having hole transport properties useful in devices that require charge transport properties, such as light-emitting diodes and organic electrophotographic elements such as photoreceptors or photoconductors. Also disclosed are electrophotographic elements which comprise an electrically conducting layer, a charge generating layer overlying the electrically conducting layer, and a charge transport layer overlying the electrically conducting layer. The charge transport layer, which can be an overcoat overlying the charge generating layer, comprises the condensed reaction product of the disclosed polymers.
