    Abstract: A measuring device for the measurement of light signals emitted from samples in wells of a microplate, in particular to a luminescence measuring device for measuring luminescence signals. The luminescence measuring device has a first injector with an injector needle having an outlet end for dispensing a reagent into a well, and a luminescence optical device having an optical axis extending substantially perpendicularly to the microplate and a measuring region surrounding the optical axis. The injector needle extends to below the luminescence optical device and opens with its outlet end into the measuring region. The luminescence measuring device has further a spray deflector arranged between the outlet end of the injector and the luminescence optical device.

    Abstract: A method for generating a control program for a laboratory automation device includes: receiving video data displaying a work area of a laboratory assistant, the work area containing a hand-held pipette and containers for receiving a liquid; detecting openings of the containers in the video data and determining positions of the openings; detecting a pipette tip of the hand-held pipette in the video data and determining a movement of the tip; and generating the control program for the laboratory automation device from the movement of the pipette tip with respect to the positions of the openings, wherein the control program is adapted for moving a pipetting arm with a robot pipette of the laboratory automation device with respect to containers of the laboratory automation device accordingly to the movement of the hand-held pipette in the work area.

    Abstract: A method for investigating biological cells or cell cultures in a microplate reader receives at least one microplate with wells containing biological cells or cell cultures by a receiving device; positions the wells with respect to measuring devices of the microplate reader and detects integral measurement signals by at least one of the measuring devices. The biological cells or cell cultures in the specific wells of the microplate(s) are transilluminated by an illumination source of the microplate reader and imaged by an imaging camera. Each of the detected integral signals is compared with the image of the biological cells or cell cultures in the corresponding wells of the microplate(s) by a processor and is related to the imaged number, adherence, confluence or morphology of these biological cells or cell cultures.
