Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for controlling and compressing a dispersion formed in the mixing stage of liquid-liquid extraction. The compression of the dispersion is achieved by reducing the cross-section of the separation section in the direction of flow and by equipping the separation section with a dispersion-damming member. The equipment according to the invention thus comprises a settler, which is essentially trapezoid in shape so that its cross-section is wider at the feed end of the settler and gets smaller towards the rear end of the settler, from whence the separated solutions are discharged from the settler, and the settler is equipped with at least one device to dam up the dispersion. In particular the method and equipment relate to the extraction process used in the recovery of metals.

A water wall fitting for a whirlpool bathtub having a cover and a shape to enable drainage of a closed loop piping system into a tub. Additionally, a water jet in said housing that delivers a hydro massage.
Abstract:
Filtration device comprising an inlet for the supply of the liquid to be filtered and means for holding a filter crossing the flow path beyond the inlet. The inlet opens into an annular intermediate passage which narrows down in the flow direction to an annular slit. The inlet opens into the annular passage in a tangential direction. The device comprises a support screen for support of a removable filter, and a dome leaving a small gap between its outline and the support screen when it is positioned in the support screen.
Abstract:
A method of coacting a fluid with a media, such as granular particles. The media is moved to an upper portion in an upright media container, and held there during a treatment cycle in which the fluid is coacted with the media. When the media requires regeneration, the media is allowed to fall to a lower portion of the media container where a regeneration fluid is passed through the media.
Abstract:
A dispersion fluid filtration and delivery apparatus and method are provided for filtering a dispersion fluid from a storage vessel and delivering a filtrate thereof to a filtrate using operation. The dispersion fluid filtration and delivery apparatus for the method includes (a) a filter device having an inlet port, a first outlet port for connecting to the storage vessel, and a second outlet port for connecting to the filtrate using operation; (b) an inlet pump connected between the inlet port and the storage vessel for pumping a first quantity Qin of dispersion fluid into the filter device; and (c) an outlet pump connected between the first outlet port and the storage vessel for pumping a second quantity Qout of dispersion fluid from the filter device back into the storage vessel. The outlet pump and the inlet pump are sized and controlled so that Qout is less than Qin, and so that the resulting filtrate flow Qr from the filter device through the second outlet port to the filtrate using operation is equal to QinnullQout.
Abstract:
A barrel type fish and/or particulate screen includes mesh stretched over a supporting cylindrical shell having closed ends. The closed interior opens to a fluid withdrawal conduit, which is connected to an outlet. An inner, substantially conical withdrawal manifold is provided with the base of the substantially conical withdrawal manifold connected to the withdrawal conduit and the manifold extending substantially the axial length of the cylindrical mesh. The substantially conical withdrawal manifold defines uniformly sized and arrayed flow apertures. These flow apertures have the same unit area per unit length of the substantially conical withdrawal conduit. This same unit area per unit length produces within the withdrawal manifold, a substantially constant velocity at all cross-sections of the manifold taken normal the flow along the major axis of the substantially conical shape. Flow velocity distribution through the metal mesh is maintained uniform at all rates of flow through the device.
Abstract:
A filter underdrain system and a method for measuring the water flow through the underdrain filter system. The apparatus includes panel members assembled to form a perforate grid on the filter base structure of an underdrain block. The panels are generally rectangular and have an upper and lower surface. Multiple apertures are provided in the panel member. The number and/or size of the apertures are dimensioned to prevent the egress of filter media and to obtain substantially uniform backwash flow in the underdrain thereby reducing or eliminating water maldistribution.
Abstract:
The present invention provides a filter apparatus for use in removing impurities and acids contained in a fluid that includes a particulate filter and an acid-neutralizing filter. The particulate filter and the acid-neutralizing filter may be positioned within separate housings or they may be positioned within a common housing. The acid-neutralizing filter contains an acid-neutralizing compound such as crushed limestone, calcium carbonate or magnesium carbonate.
