摘要： A support framework for containing a granular medium that is used to remediate corrosive vaporous pollutants in an air stream. The support framework is situated within a plenum and comprises two concentric open-lattice weave cylinders made from corrosion resistant fiberglass reinforced plastic (FRP). The cylinders are of differing diameters and the granular medium is placed into and contained within the open space formed between the inside wall of the outer cylinder and the outside wall of the inner cylinder. The open-lattice weave design allows a greater radial flow through the medium per unit of time, doing so with less pressure drop and using less energy than the prior art. The use of FRP to form the cylinder walls allows creation of large units that are suitable for use in municipal and industrial settings, which was not possible previously.

摘要： A device for the treatment of an influent with a nonbonded media, and when the media becomes spent, the media is fluidized with a backwash fluid. Concentric inner and outer perforated cylinders contain a column of media therebetween. The influent is passed radially inwardly through the column of media and into the lower portion of the inner perforated cylinder, where the effluent is removed from the device. During a backwash operation, a backwash fluid is forced into the lower portion of the inner perforated cylinder, radially outwardly into the column of media to provide an upwardly directed drag force. When the drag force exceeds the buoyant weight of the media, the media is fluidized so that the contaminants can be removed therefrom by the backwash fluid.

摘要： The present invention discloses a filter system for the filtration of residential tap water for drinking. The device of the present invention removes impurities including organics, heavy metals, and nitrates, and it provides a removable filter which can be readily changed without disconnecting the water lines. The filter in its simplest form has a central filter cartridge which is connected to a top cap and a bottom cap. The top cap and bottom cap have a water inlet and outlet, respectively. The central filter cartridge in turn has a conduit, which is terminated with restrainers, forming a central cavity in the central filter cartridge. The filter cartridge is filled with granular material for filtering. Particulate filters are positioned between the granular material and the restrainers. In one preferred embodiment the particulate matter forms a bed of a silver impregnated activated charcoal, a bed of a cation resin, and a bed of an anion resin. The activated charcoal is in closest proximity to the water inlet.

摘要： A quick change oil filter incudes a filter canister and filter base that may be installed and removed manually from an engine adapter on an internal combustion engine. The filter canister and filter base may hold at least about one third of the required engine oil supply when removed from the engine adapter. The engine adapter includes an oil inlet passage, an oil outlet passage, and a filter base mounting cavity. A check valve is biased to close an oil outlet opening from the filter canister, trapping oil inside the filter canister when it is removed from the engine adapter.
