Abstract:
A sender transforms scanned image data to binary compressed data with a fixed parameter, converts it to e-mail data, adds information indicating its local control system and identification information for a capability request to the e-mail data and sends the resultant e-mail data. When a transmission destination is an electronic mail device, the transmission destination prints the attached page of specific conditions after which communications between the sender and the receiver are terminated. When the transmission destination has the same control device as the sender, the transmission destination transmits a response message to the sender in which information indicating its local control method and a capability response are provided. The sender generates, from image data, binary compressed data whose image size, resolution and coding system are matched with the capability of the transmission destination, converts this binary compressed data to e-mail data and resends the e-mail data.
Abstract:
When a specified type of communication data is received by a specified interface, the communication data is processed into intermediate data based on a sheet-saving print format. Upon receiving print command, an image forming device executes sheet-saving printing for forming a compressed image based on the intermediate data. Because a relatively large amount of communication data can be printed out on a single page in this way, wasting of recording medium can be prevented.
Abstract:
An automatic scanning parameter setting device and method. The automatic scanning parameter setting device is a scanner that automatically sets the scanning parameters of a plurality of scan images so that scanning can be conducted in batches. The automatic scanning parameter setting device includes an image input device, an analysis device and a control unit. The image input device is attached to the scanner for inputting a plurality of scan images. A portion of the scan images contains a set parameter format. The set parameter format contains a plurality of scanning parameter values. The analysis device performs an analysis of the scan images containing recorded scan parameter values. The control unit uses the analyzed scanning parameter values to conduct a scanning parameter setting operation on the scan images having recorded scanning parameter values as well as the ordered scan images after the scan images with recorded scan parameter values but without recorded scan parameter values.
Abstract:
An image is read from a photo film by a scanner. Data of the read image is transferred to an image processing unit to process the image. When reading and processing the image, setting items are changed in accordance with a mode. In a high-image-quality mode, is executed at least one of the items including increment of a read pixel number, improvement of an SN ratio, correcting processes, reduction of an electronic magnification, and monitoring. In a high-speed mode, is executed at lease one of the items including reduction of the read pixel number, omission of the correcting processes, increment of the electronic magnification, omission of monitoring, and omission or reduction of automatic focusing. The mode is selected so as to meet an operational purpose so that the image is efficiently read.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a method for causing a coinciding of resolutions of facsimile devices having different systems of measurement. The different systems of measurement can be a metric system and an English system of measurements. The method according to the present invention includes the steps of: exchanging protocols between a transmission-side facsimile device and a reception-side facsimile and determining a designed unit and a resolution of the reception-side facsimile device; calculating a rotating velocity of a step motor to be adapted to the designed unit and the resolution; driving the step motor at the rotating velocity to scan a document; and transmitting data obtained from the document to the reception-side facsimile device. The method according to another aspect of the present invention includes the steps of: exchanging protocols between a transmission-side facsimile device and a reception-side facsimile device to determine a designed unit and a resolution of the transmission-side facsimile device when a communication line is established between the transmission-side facsimile device and the reception-side facsimile device; calculating a rotating velocity of the step motor to be adapted to the designed unit and the resolution; receiving data transmitted from the transmission-side facsimile device; and driving the step motor at the rotating velocity to print the data received to the reception-side facsimile device.
Abstract:
The present invention provides an Internet facsimile machine including a processor having an ability exchanging function for forming an electronic mail including standard format image data and format information of original image data, transmitting the electronic mail, receiving an electronic mail having machine receiving ability information and transmitting the image data formed in accordance with the machine receiving ability information from the original image data. The Internet facsimile machine also includes a controller for determining whether or not to use the ability exchanging function for the transmission of the image data in accordance with a state of the Internet facsimile machine when transmitting the image data.
Abstract:
In an image data server 200, a preview data generation unit 218 generates preview data corresponding to image data, and a transmission controller 211 transmits the preview data to a computer system 100 in an image receiver apparatus. In accordance with another possible application, the preview data is not generated by the image data server 200, but is generated by a computer system 300 in an image transmitter apparatus, which transmits the image data to the image data server 200, and transmitted to the image data server 200. In the computer system 100 in the image receiver apparatus, a display controller 113 causes the contents of the preview data to be displayed on the screen of a monitor 150. The user determines whether or not the image data corresponding to the displayed preview image is required. In response to an instruction for transfer of the image data input from the user, a transmission controller 111 transmits a request for transfer of the image data to the image data server 200. The transmission controller 211 then transmits the image data, which is the object of the request for transfer, to the computer system 100 in the image receiver apparatus. A print controller 114 causes the image data to be subjected to predetermined image processing, and a printer 180 prints the processed image data on a printing sheet of paper. This arrangement of the present invention enables the image receiver apparatus to selectively receive only the required data.
Abstract:
A data communication apparatus such as a facsimile is constructed by a communication unit to transmit and receive data, an output unit such as a printer to output the data received by the communication unit, and a connection unit such as an LAN to connect one or more external apparatuses. Data of an output-capable ability of the output unit and data of an output-capable ability of the external apparatus connected through the connection unit are notified to a communication apparatus on the partner side by the communication unit. The ability data indicates an image size and a resolution of image data that can be outputted by the output unit and/or the external apparatus. The data communication apparatus also has a transfer unit to transfer the data received by the communication unit to the external apparatus connected to the LAN. When the image size and resolution of the received image data exceed the output-capable ability of the output unit, the transfer unit transfers the received data. When the data is transferred by the transfer unit, such a fact is notified to the user.
Abstract:
An output manager that is included in a prepress workflow between a raster image processor and an output device generates a print production format file. The file is created by defining an output device and a press, and configuring a press profile in response to the output device and the press. The output manager receives a reduced resolution image, modifies the reduced resolution image responsive to the press profile, and stores the modified reduced resolution image in a print production file according to the CIP3 format.
Abstract:
The invention provides a facsimile which automatically switches communication networks depending upon the reading mode of the reading means for reading the image information of an original. Specifically, a facsimile is provided with reading means for reading the image information of an original and setting means for setting the reading mode of the reading means and which sends information read by the reading means via either the Internet or a public switched network. If a reading mode set by the setting means is a predetermined reading mode, switching means switches to sending the read information using the Internet.
