Abstract: The disclosure relates to a 5th generation (5G) or pre-5G communication system for supporting a higher data transmission rate, which is subsequent to the 4th generation (4G) system such as long-term evolution (LTE). An operation method of a terminal in a wireless communication system includes identifying a priority between uplink (UL) data and sidelink data; if the terminal is not capable of simultaneous transmissions of the UL data and the sidelink data, transmitting only first data, wherein the first data has a higher priority between the UL data and the sidelink data; and if a total transmission power of the UL data and the sidelink data exceeds a maximum output power, transmitting both the first data and second data, of which a transmission power is identified based on the maximum output power, wherein the second data has a lower priority between the UL data and the sidelink data.

Abstract: A method and system for differentiating different Protocol Data Units (PDU) in a D2D communication network. The type of PDU to be differentiated is assigned/associated with a unique data/value and transmitted to the destination, by a transmitting User Equipment. At the receiving end, the receiving User Equipment differentiates between different types of PDU packets received, based on the unique data associated with the collected data. Further, the received PDU data is processed based on a suitable packet processing function that matches the PDU type of the PDU data received.

The method includes transmitting, to a base station, a random access preamble for initiating a random access procedure; receiving, from the base station, a random access response; transmitting, to a base station, a first message for requesting system information (SI); receiving, from the base station, physical downlink control channel (PDCCH) associated with a temporary cell radio network temporary identifier (TEMPORARY C-RNTI); identifying whether a contention resolution is successful; identifying whether a random access procedure is initiated for requesting the SI; and indicating a reception of an acknowledgement for requesting the SI to upper layer in response to identifying that the contention resolution is successful and the random access procedure is initiated for requesting the SI.

Disclosed is a method by which a terminal transmits a buffer status report (BSR) in a communication system, comprising the steps of: allocating an uplink resource from a base station; comparing the number of padding bits with a value obtained by summing the size of the BSR and the size of a sub-header of the BSR; and transmitting, to the base station according to the comparison result, the BSR including information indicating the presence or absence of a field representing a buffer size for at least one logical channel group (LCG).
