Abstract: This patent document describes failure recovery technologies for the processing of streaming data, also referred to as pipelined data. The technologies described herein have particular applicability in distributed computing systems that are required to process streams of data and provide at-most-once and/or exactly-once service levels. In a preferred embodiment, a system comprises many nodes configured in a network topology, such as a hierarchical tree structure. Data is generated at leaf nodes. Intermediate nodes process the streaming data in a pipelined fashion, sending towards the root aggregated or otherwise combined data from the source data streams towards. To reduce overhead and provide locally handled failure recovery, system nodes transfer data using a protocol that controls which node owns the data for purposes of failure recovery as it moves through the network.

Abstract: Multiple segmentation servers are synchronized to provide failover capacity in such a way that should a failover occur, the segment numbers/playlists/encryption keys/decryption keys are identical on each of the segmentation servers. Synchronizing the contents of a segmentation server on one or more backup segmentation servers ensures that the delivery of a content stream is immune to the failure of segmentation servers, provided at least one segmentation server remains fault-free. A caching server may further facilitate the fault tolerance by checking the availability of the individual segmentation servers, collect content segments from one of the segmentation servers, and serve the content segment to clients. The caching server automatically checks a primary segmentation server to ensure it is available (e.g., online), and provides automatic failover to a backup segmentation server should the primary server experience a fault (e.g., go offline).

In networks with various topologies, this is provided in combination with their existing protocols, such as rapid spanning tree and link aggregation protocols, respectively.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure are directed to an automated remediation system that can receive service level objective (SLO) alerts or notifications and, based on the type, take automated remedial actions. The automated remediation system can perform automated responses to various SLO alerts such as latency alerts, error budget alerts, burn rate alerts, etc. The automated remediation system can utilize a mapping to select which automated response to perform; can measure the effectiveness of the automated response using a metric defined for the alert type; and, until the issue is resolved or no further actions are mapped to the alert type, can repeat the initial automated response or can take secondary automated responses. The automated remediation system can also report the alert and the remedial actions taken.

Abstract: An apparatus is communicatively coupled to a plurality of databases in a service-based architecture and comprises a memory and a processor. The memory stores multiple configuration commands. The processor is configured to generate a request to establish a communication session in which a network component accesses a first database and a second database based at least in part upon a configuration command of the configuration commands. The network component exchanges connectivity signals with the first database and the second database. The first database provides database operations in response to the connectivity signals exchanged with the network component. The first database reports to the second database that the database operations are provided. The processor is further configured to, in response to determining that the communication session between the network component and the first database is lost, maintain the communication session to access the second database.
