Abstract:
A dispensing apparatus (10) for dispensing a product from a container (12) includes: a product chamber within the container (12); a valve (14) adjacent to the product chamber; a hinge assembly secured to the opening of the container and to which is connected a nozzle assembly (20); and a lever (18) attached by a hinge assembly. The nozzle assembly (20) is rotatable between open and closed positions and includes an actuator portion provided with a cam surface (96, 98) which co-operates with a bearing portion (100) on the lever (18) such that, when the nozzle assembly (20) is in the open position, operation of the lever (18) causes movement of the actuator portion to open the valve (14) and permit flow of the product out of the container (12).
Abstract:
Liquid products such as automotive fuel system cleaners, differential gear case oil, and brake line antifreeze can be delivered to hard-to-reach inlets on the automobile or reservoir by storing the liquid in a pressurized cannister of small enough size to permit it to be hand-held and by then inserting the remote end of a flexible hose leading from the actuator head of the cannister into the inlet itself. When the actuator head is thereupon depressed, the propellant forces the liquid out of the cannister and into the inlet via the hose while the cannister remains essentially upright and held at a convenient distance from the inlet being serviced. In a particularly preferred form of the invention, a total release lever may be flipped up at the time of discharge to depress the actuator head and to maintain it in its fully depressed condition until the contents have been completely released from the cannister. The release lever is arranged in a toggle-like setting so as to be self-retaining in the fully actuated position once flipped up, thereby providing hands-free continued depression of the actuator head.
Abstract:
A dispenser unit comprises a housing and an actuator movable relative to the housing to cause the contents of two containers to be dispensed simultaneously in mixed or separate state. Each container includes a hollow stem through which the substance is dispensed when the stem is depressed. The dispenser unit includes a fluid-conducting member distinct from the actuator and including two hoods for engaging the two stems of the containers. Depressing the actuator causes the fluid-conducting member to actuate the stems and initiate dispensing of the contents into a single passage or two separate passages of the fluid-conducting member. The fluid-conducting member is movable within the housing for accommodating mismatch in heights of the stems. The actuator includes a single internal channel or two separate channels for receiving the container contents from the fluid-conducting member.

Abstract:
A method for applying health or beauty products to selected difficult and hard to reach portions of a person's body. The method is suitable for general use but provides on major benefits to physically disadvantaged persons, such as elderly, arthritic, amputee, paralytic and bedridden persons who are unable to care for their hygienic, health and grooming needs. The method is suitable for use in residences, hospitals, nursing homes, at the beach and while traveling. A suitable apparatus for use with the method is generally comprised of a replaceable aerosol cartridge, a slender elongated tubular member having an inlet portion operatively connected to the cartridge, and an applicator attached to an outlet portion of the tubular member. The applicator can be rotatable about three mutually perpendicular axes for applying health and beauty products to difficult to reach body areas. The elongated tube may be extensible to provide further utility.
Abstract:
An aerosol device for dispensing texture material for matching existing accoustical ceiling texture. The device comprises a container, a valve assembly, a dispensing nozzle, a hardenable material, and pressurized inert gas as a propelling mechanism. The hardenable material and pressurized inert gas are placed into the container. When the valve assembly is opened, the inert gas forces the hardenable material out of the container through the dispensing nozzle. The dispensing nozzle to diverts at least a portion of the hardenable material exiting the container to develop a spray suitable for the application of the hardenable material onto the ceiling surface being textured. The hardenable material preferably comprises at least water, filler, binder, and polystyrene particles. The inert gas is preferably nitrogen.

Abstract:
The present invention discloses an aerosol dispensing device for selectively dispensing a pressurized aerosol disinfectant from an aerosol container. A wall mounted support base for holding an aerosol container has two support holes at its lower end which rotatingly receive corresponding support shafts integral with a cover so as to permit the cover to rotate downward with respect to the support base; a latch mechanism detachably secures the top end of the cover to the support base. The aerosol container includes a normally closed discharge valve at one end, the discharge valve having a hollow stem extending from one end of the aerosol container and being in flow communication therewith when the hollow stem is laterally deflected. The aerosol container is removably received, stem down, in a mating U-shaped support arm attached to the support base, by means of a mating ring-form groove formed in one end of the aerosol container near the hollow stem. A supplemental nozzle with integral extender projection is removably attached to the hollow stem so as to form a discharge flow path therewith when the discharge valve is open; the extender projection normally reposing in a first position wherein the hollow stem is undeflected and the discharge valve is closed. The aerosol dispensing device is activated by means of an actuating force applied to a pushbutton suspended in a cut-out area of the cover; the pushbutton being rotatingly attached to the cover by two suspension arms. An actuator integral with the pushbutton laterally displaces the extender projection to a second position wherein the discharge valve is open, in response to the actuating force. Two resilient members integral with the pushbutton, and compressed in accordance with the actuating force, act to resist motion of the pushbutton and permit the extender projection to be automatically restored to the first position when the actuating force ceases to be applied to the pushbutton.
Abstract:
The valve of an aerosol can is actuated by a lever having a handle portion and an intermediate portion bearing on a lock member. The lever is pivotably mounted in a clip. The lock member is in screw-threaded engagement with the valve for movement the realong between closed and open positions. The lock member can be placed in any intermediate position to set a desired flow rate through the valve when the lever is depressed by the user.
Abstract:
A fluid control valve including a housing with a chamber therein, a hollow barrel, an elongated trigger, a seal and spring. The chamber communicates with a source of fluid, and also has one end of the barrel, which is axially slideably mounted in the housing with the other end outside the housing. The barrel's normal position is furthest into said housing and, its activated position is axially outward therefrom. The trigger is substantially perpendicular to the barrel and is positioned on the barrel and engages the barrel adjacent to the housing with the barrel passing through an opening at one end of the trigger. The seal is movable in the chamber and normally closes one of the communication. The spring is in the chamber urging the seal and barrel into their normal position. Activation of the trigger engages the barrel, moving it axially against the spring permitting the seal to open the communication.
