Abstract:
A sliding panel for use in an architectural opening is connected either at its top edge or bottom edge to a carrier that supports the panel with a magnetic system that includes a magnet and a ferrous member. The magnet is positioned on either the carrier or the panel and the ferrous member is on the other of the carrier or the panel with the magnet attracting the ferrous member to connect the panel to the carrier.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a hold-open apparatus for controlling the position of a door, preferably a screen door or storm door. The apparatus is used in conjunction with a piston assembly and can maintain a door in a predetermined open position, such as about 45° to about 100° in relation to a closed position. In a preferred embodiment, the apparatus can automatically lock and/or unlock when the door reaches predetermined positions. The apparatus advantageously can be retrofitted to existing door assemblies.
Abstract:
A door seal for use with a bi-parting door in which the door panels of the door have supplementary angled leading edges. One leading edge has a triangular cross-section, while the other has a cross-section similar to a parallelogram. To further the reliability of the door seal, a plurality of magnets with corresponding magnet attracting plates may be attached along the leading edges. Alternatively, both leading edges may have at least one magnet aligned with a magnet on the other edge. With the double magnet configuration, the use of multi-pole magnets is necessary. The magnets also help reduce the bounce between the door panels, which may be closed roughly, and increase the force required to separate the door panels when closed.
Abstract:
A sliding door for selectively opening and closing an opening is disclosed. The door is comprised of a door panel having a top, a bottom, a leading edge and a trailing edge. The door panel translates laterally relative to the opening between a closed position and an open position. The door has a guide, a guide follower, and a reset member. The guide is mounted to a mounting surface located between the upper and lower extent of the opening, and comprises a first end disposed proximate the opening and a second end opposite the first end. The guide follower is attached to the door panel and disposed in operable engagement with the guide. The reset member is disposed proximate the second end of the guide. The reset member has a surface that is angularly oriented to facilitate operable engagement and alignment of the guide follower with the guide.
Abstract:
A door for at least partially covering a doorway defined by a wall and a lower surface. The door comprises a first door panel adapted to laterally translate along a plane relative to the doorway between a doorway blocking position and an unblocking position. The door further comprises a first seal including a first sealing surface interposed between a first attachment end and a first distal end with the first attachment end being attached to the first door panel. The door also has a second seal disposed to allow relative movement between the first seal and the second seal, the second seal including a second sealing surface interposed between a second attachment end and a second distal end, such that the first door panel in the doorway blocking position causes the first sealing surface to face the second sealing surface and positions the second distal end between the first distal end and at least one of the first door panel and the first attachment end.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a damping apparatus for moving furniture parts, for example doors, flaps or drawers. Such a damping apparatus of a compact construction which avoids a possible springing back movement of the furniture parts is provided in accordance with the invention in that the damping apparatus has at least two damping stages each having a cylinder having a piston longitudinally displaceable therein which exert a damping action of different strengths.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a magnetic type floor hinge installed on the bottom surface of a door for reducing the opening and shutting speed of the door, the magnetic type floor hinge according to the present invention comprises an installing bracket divided into a magnetic operating part and a hinge operating part having one end on which a guide rail is installed; a moving plate installed to move linearly on the guide rail; a compressing spring installed between the moving plate and the installing bracket in the direction of movement of the moving plate; a main shaft cam rotatably installed on an upper portion of the moving plate, the main shaft cam being combined with a hinge shaft of the door and rotated along with the hinge shaft; a roller installed on one end of the moving plate, the roller being contacted with a cam-shaped surface of the main shaft cam; a disk rotatably installed at one end of the magnetic operating part of the installing bracket; a yoke installed on the magnetic operating part of the installing bracket; the yoke having permanent magnets attached thereto so as to generate repulsive force toward the upper and lower surfaces of the disk; and a gear-box in which a plurality of gears are contained installed between a rotating shaft of the main shaft cam and a rotating shaft of the disk so as to convert rotating movement of low speed of the main shaft cam to rotating movement of high speed of the disk. Therefore, according to the present invention, a magnetic type damper is applied to the floor hinge to generate damping force in a non-contacted type so that frictional force can be minimized, and the opening and shutting speed of the door can be maintained constantly in spite of change of temperature.
Abstract:
A tool holder for holding a tool on a hinge plate of a deck lid of a motor vehicle. The tool holder has a body in the form of a collar made of two separate parts secured together by screws. The body parts cooperate in defining a recess shaped to retain the tool when the body parts are secured together but to release the tool when the body parts are separated. A generally L-shaped bracket projects from the body and, with the body, defines a channel for receiving a flange on the hinge plate. A hanger has a cylinder secured to the bracket. A slide bar mounted in the cylinder moves from a retracted position to an extended position across the channel. In its extended position, the slide bar extends through a hole in the hinge flange to suspend the tool holder. The body of the tool holder also has a magnet for contacting the hinge plate to magnetically hold the tool holder on the hinge plate.
Abstract:
A magnetic screw device comprising an internal (male) magnetic screw having the even number of magnetized bands spirally magnetized on an outer surface with contiguous magnetized bands having opposite polarities and an external (female) magnetic screw having the even number of magnetized bands spirally magnetized on the same outer surface with contiguous magnetized bands having opposite polarities. The internal and external magnetic screws are composed of a plurality of spiral cylindrical magnets disposed in its axis direction, the spiral cylindrical magnet being formed of short cylindrical permanent magnet materials on each outer or inner surface which is spirally magnetized. The internal magnetic screw includes a rod member to support the inner spiral cylindrical magnets.
Abstract:
