A temperature measurement system includes at least one filament configured to emit thermal radiation in a relatively broad and substantially continuous wavelength band that is at least partially representative of a temperature of the at least one filament. The system also includes an optical system configured to receive at least a portion of the thermal radiation emitted from the filament. The optical system includes a wavelength splitting device configured to split the emitted thermal radiation into at least one relatively narrow wavelength band of thermal radiation. The optical system also includes a detector array configured to receive the at least one relatively narrow wavelength band of thermal radiation and to generate electrical signals at least partially representative of the received thermal radiation. The temperature measurement system further includes a controller communicatively coupled to the detector array. The controller is configured to transform the generated electrical signals to a temperature indication using a predetermined conversion module.
Abstract:
A system and method for providing an apparatus for detecting radiance at a plurality of wavelengths is disclosed. The system and method includes an arrayed pixel sensor with a plurality of sub-pixel sections including a first sub-pixel section configured to detect radiance received from a radiating body at a first wavelength and a second sub-pixel section configured to detect radiance received from the radiating body at a second wavelength. The system and method also determines a ratio of the radiance detected at the first wavelength and the radiance detected at the second wavelength to determine a temperature of the radiating body based on the ratio.
Abstract:
Temperature measurement instruments and methods are provided for visually identifying a selected area of a target with a light beam. After imaging infrared radiation from a measurement area on a target, a selected area satisfying a temperature criterion is determined. An actuator system moves a light beam relative to the instrument and measurement area to visually identify the selected area. In some embodiments the actuator system may repeatedly move the light beam to visually identify the selected area of the target as the instrument is moved and the selected area's position changes within the measurement area.
