    Abstract: A system, method, and apparatus for an integrated console environment for diagnostic instruments are disclosed. An example apparatus includes a laboratory analyzer configured to generate patient sample result data by performing an analysis on a biological sample from a patient and quality control data by performing an analysis on a control biological sample with known properties. The example apparatus also includes a first laboratory instrument memory configured to locally store the patient sample result data among a plurality of other patient sample result data and a first data access component at a first address configured to provide access to the first laboratory instrument memory. The example apparatus further includes a second laboratory instrument memory configured to locally store the quality control data among a plurality of other quality control data and a second data access component at a second address configured to provide access to the second laboratory instrument memory.

    Abstract: A middleware device or software may be placed in communication with one or more testing instruments and a lab information system. As samples are collected from patients and tested with the testing instruments, test results pass through the middleware and are analyzed in context with other data, such as patient history, testing instrument history, and test results from other tests of the sample, in order to determine whether a particular result is acceptable, whether retesting is needed, whether additional sample collection or testing is needed, and whether currently ordered testing is still necessary. When the middleware determines a need for additional testing or retesting it may automatically create orders for such testing in order to reduce delays in manual review of testing results.

    Abstract: Improved systems and methods for laboratory instrument calibration. A laboratory instrument retrieves a number of sets of past quality control parameters from a data structure. Each set includes a recovered value and a timestamp. The recovered value is equal to an output value adjusted by an initial calibration factor. The laboratory instrument determines that the number of sets is greater than a threshold and that each of the past quality control parameters has a timestamp that is within a time threshold. The laboratory instrument computes an updated calibration factor such that when the updated calibration factor is applied to a representative value of the recovered values, the representative value equals the expected recovered value. The instrument updates the data structure with the calibration factor such that the calibration factor is used in subsequent testing of patient specimens.

    Abstract: Embodiments of the present technology include a method for testing a blood sample for sepsis. The method may include receiving a blood sample from an individual.
