Abstract: Filter made entirely with natural and biodegradable materials, for the protection of the respiratory tract of patients in the medical-surgical field and process for making it. The filter has a porosity or 80-98% and pore diameters of 100-350 micrometers and the pores have a shape of channels open at the ends, which are parallel to each other. The filter is obtained by preparing an aqueous solution of chitosan and an aqueous solution of gelatin, mixing them, pouring it into a container, keeping the container closed until obtaining a hydrogel and freeze-drying. A cross-linking step takes place by (a) adding a chemical cross-linker to the mixture of the chitosan and gelatine solutions and cross-linking before freeze-drying, or (b) subjecting the freeze-drying product to a thermal dehydration treatment.

Abstract: The invention relates to dense synthetic membranes made from polymerised phosphonium-based ionic liquids which were found to be particularly suitable for use in gas separation. The membranes are obtainable by copolymerization via UV-curing of a composition comprising a phosphonium-based ionic liquid monomer, a co-monomer, a cross-linker, a surfactant and a photo-initiator, the remainder of the polymerization mixture consisting of water.
The invention also relates to a process of manufacturing said membranes, resulting in solid, dense and mechanically stable membranes, and to the use of the membranes so produced in the separation of gas mixtures, particularly gas mixtures containing carbon dioxide.-

Abstract: A method for identifying and quantifying radioisotopes in a gamma spectrum. and an algorithm based on convolutional neural networks (CNN) with a direct acyclic graph (DAG) structure are provided. The capacity to capture relevant attributes of CNNs combined with the possibility of carrying out several tasks of a DAG simultaneously allows performing precise, automatic identification and quantification in a single process. After appropriate training of the network, the only input needed is the raw spectrum measured by the device, without intervention of human operators and intermediate measurement processings.
