摘要: This invention causes an image which has been read out by a CCD sensor during a first scan to be converted into an electric signal corresponding to the density of the image. A CPU forms by calculation a graph of the magnitude of density and the frequency thereof, namely a density histogram based on the electric signal obtained by the conversion. The contrast of the image is calculated, based on the density of the blank base part and that of the image formed part of the image which are calculated from the density histogram. The CPU sets the adjustment width based on this contrast and calculates the luminous energy of a lamp being used during a main scan in accordance with the adjustment width so set and the value of density set by a setting key. Thus, the present invention infallibly allows perfect density adjustment in an image of any degree of contrast.

摘要: An image reading apparatus is disclosed which reads from above a book document mounted as opened upwardly. This image reading apparatus decides the positions of face terminal parts of the document by detecting longitudinal edges in accordance with differences in luminance contrasts which occur in the face part of document and the lateral face part of document in the lateral direction of an image and further detecting the pattern of longitudinal edges due to the overlap of pages in the lateral face part of document and the amount of change of the position of the upper side edge of the document. The apparatus, therefore, is capable of accurately detecting the face of the document and the lateral face of the document and producing exclusively the image of the face of the document in spite of the presence of an index, a pattern of black frame, or a black background in the terminal parts of the face of the document.

摘要: A composite pitch pattern of an artificial waveform of a composite sound indicating characters is produced according to a general pitch pattern producing model, and a pitch pattern of a VCV phoneme-chain waveform of each of VCV phoneme-chains corresponding to the characters is produced from an actual voice sample. Each VCV phoneme-chain composed of a preceding vowel, a consonant and a succeeding vowel has a pitch fine structure and a pitch fluctuation. Thereafter, an overall inclination of the pitch pattern of each VCV phoneme-chain waveform is adjusted to that of a portion of the composite pitch pattern corresponding to the-same VCV phoneme-chain to overlap transitional portions of preceding and succeeding vowels in a changed pitch pattern of each VCV phoneme-chain waveform with those in the corresponding portion of the composite pitch pattern. Therefore, when changed pitch patterns of the VCV phoneme-chain waveforms are connected with each other, a synthesized sound of the characters can be obtained while the synthesized sound maintains a pitch fine structure and a pitch fluctuation.

摘要: A chroma signal is emphasized then sub-sampled using a sampling offset differing by 90.degree. in four consecutive fields, then recorded on a recording medium. After reproduction from the recording medium, the phase of the reproduced chroma signal is corrected, and the phase corrected reproduced chroma signal is interpolated to increase its bandwidth and then non-linearly de-emphasized to reduce the noise contained therein. The interpolation is performed on adjacent pixels of four consecutive fields of the phase corrected reproduced chroma signal, and occurs before non-linear de-emphasis to reduce flicker.

摘要: In a boiling water-type, nuclear power plant, deposition of radioactive substances on the surfaces of out-of-core components in the primary cooling water system in the nuclear power plant is suppressed by injecting an alkaline element into reactor water in the presence of more than an amount of the oxygen formed by nuclear fission of the reactor water and dissolved in the reactor water, particularly without hydrogen gas injection, during the nuclear heatup operation period of a boiling water type, nuclear power plant and circulating the injected alkaline element through the primary cooling water system of a nuclear reactor, thereby forming an oxide film on the surfaces of out-of-core components in the primary cooling water system of the nuclear reactor. Exposure of plant personnel to radioactivity can be reduced thereby. The present boiling water-type, nuclear power plant is provided with a means for forming such oxide film.
