    Abstract: A mechanism to control transmission by a base station, which may help to control interference on an adjacent frequency. The base station is configured to operate on a first frequency and is equipped with a number of antennas enabled for transmission on the first frequency. Upon detecting of a trigger for reducing potential interference on the adjacent frequency, the base station reduces the number of its antennas that are enabled for transmission on the first carrier, which may reduce the overall energy of the base station's transmission and may thereby reduce interference on the adjacent frequency. In an example implementation, the base station could disable a proper subset of its antennas from use for transmission on the first frequency, while leaving a remainder of its antennas enabled for transmission on the first frequency.

    Abstract: A method and system to help control CoMP service in a V-RAN arrangement. The load on a cell site's fronthaul network interface between the cell site's RRH and the cell site's BBU is determined. And in response to detecting that the fronthaul load is threshold high, a limit will be imposed on application of CoMP service involving the cell site. For example, in response to detecting that the cell site's fronthaul network interface is threshold highly loaded, (i) the cell site could be made to use decentralized joint processing rather than centralized joint processing, (ii) a lower coverage strength threshold could be imposed as a basis to trigger CoMP service involving the cell site, and/or (iii) the quantity of uplink communication that is subject to CoMP service involving the cell site could be limited.

    Abstract: In a wireless communication system where a wireless access network includes a base station providing coverage in which to serve devices and where the wireless access network provides connectivity with an Internet Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), a method and system to help manage network resources by dynamically controlling when setup of a dedicated bearer will be invoked for a packet-based call placed by a device served by the base station. If the base station is lightly loaded, then setup of dedicated bearer could be invoked before the called party answers the call. Whereas, if the base station is heavily loaded, then setup of the dedicated bearer could be invoked if and when the called party has answered.

    Abstract: Disclosed are methods and systems for configuring service of a user equipment device (UE). When the UE has dual-connectivity service, such as EN-DC service, poor quality on one of the UE's air-interface connections could result in transition of the UE to single-connectivity service. To address technological issues that may arise in this process, one of the UE's serving Node-Bs (NBs) could control teardown of an access bearer homed to the other of the UE's serving NBs. Further or alternatively, a control-plane signaling path that is homed to one of the UE's serving NBs could be replaced with a control-plane signaling path instead homed to the other of the UE's serving NBs. In addition, in appropriate circumstances, when such reconfiguration occurs, service of the UE could be switched from one core network to another.

    Abstract: A method and system to help minimize communication latency. When data is to be transmitted from a transmitting entity to a receiving entity, the transmission will be scheduled to occur in a time interval that selected based on a consideration of the delay-sensitivity of the data and based on a HARQ delay associated with the selected time interval. For instance, if the data is particularly delay-sensitive, then the transmission could be scheduled to occur in a time interval that is selected based on the time interval having a relatively low associated HARQ delay, so as to help reduce the overall delay of the communication. Whereas, if the data is not particularly delay-sensitive, then the transmission could be scheduled to occur in a time interval that has a relatively high associated HARQ delay.

    Abstract: When a base station is going to offload a UE from a carrier and is faced with a choice of whether to transition the UE from that carrier to a first carrier or rather to a second carrier, the base station will select the first carrier as the target carrier based at least on a determination that the first carrier has higher insertion loss than the second carrier. In addition, to help offset service of the UE on the high-insertion-loss carrier, the base station may block other UEs from being served on the first carrier.
