    Abstract: Disclosed is a “Pet Food Formulation System” (PFFS) that is a “treatment system” that results in loss of weight by pets consuming ad libitum, or in controlled rations, a reduced calorie pet food. The PFFS will comprise the use of jojoba meal (JM) in the form of whole fat jojoba seed flour (WFJSF), expeller pressed jojoba seed meal, and/or solvent extracted jojoba seed meal, in combination with simmondsin concentrate (SC) and jojoba oil (JO), such combinations designed to both reduce the quantity of pet food consumed by the pet and at the same time reduce the level of calories contributed by the pet food that is consumed. Simmondsin concentrate and the natural simmondsin content of jojoba meal contained in a pet food for consumption by either dogs or cats serves to reduce pet appetite and therefore the amount of food that the pet is inclined to consume. The reduced food consumption is not due to reduced acceptability of the food by the pet, rather through the mechanism of reduced appetite produced by the simmondsin in the pet food.

    Abstract: The present boat steering torque compensator is for being attached to a boat with a pivotable outboard motor, and a linearly movable control shaft with a first end connected to the outboard motor and a second end connected to a steering wheel. The compensator is comprised of a tube for being attached to the boat in a fixed position parallel to the control shaft. A compression spring positioned in the tube has a fixed first end adjacent the first end of the control shaft, and a movable second end. An elongated shaft positioned in the tube and through the spring has a first end connected to the first end of the control shaft by an adapter arm, and a second end positioned adjacent the movable second end of the spring. An engaging member on the second end of the elongated shaft engages the movable second end of the spring to compress the spring when the control shaft and elongated shaft are moved in the direction of the first end of the tube. As a result, the tendency of the motor to pivot under the influence of motor torque is opposed by the spring. The engaging member on the elongated shaft disengages and moves away from the movable second end of the spring when the control shaft and elongated shaft are moved in the direction of the second end of the tube, so that the control shaft is free to move independently of the spring.

    Abstract: A centering jig assembly for centering guide holes for a drill provides an improved adjustment feature, which avoids reliance on fasteners to fix the position of the screw device with respect to the clamp jaws. The jig assembly includes a first holding element having a first threaded bore extending therethrough and a first bearing face bearing against a first engagement surface of a work piece and a second holding plate member having a second bearing surface and a second bore extending therethrough for alignment with the first bore, the second bearing surface bearing against a second engagement surface of the work piece. A center axis of the first bore and a center axis of the second bore are collinear defining an axis of travel. The first and second plates are adapted to translate generally parallel with respect to each other along the axis of travel. The guide members interpose between the first and second holding plate members, with the guide member having a first guide surface and second guide surface, at least one guide hole extending from the first guide surface to the second guide surface. The second guide surface abuts the drilling surface of the work piece so that the first guide hole can be aligned on the surface of the work piece. A rod is provided extending through and adapted to engage the first and second bores of the first and second holding plate members such that rotational movement of the rod urges the first and second holding plate members along the axis of travel in opposite directions toward or away from the guide member. The rod includes a removable bushing for engaging one of the first and second bores.

    Abstract: An aerator apparatus, having retractable penetrating blade members, for attachment to lawnmowers is shown. The aerator apparatus includes a support disc affixed to the face of a lawnmower wheel with a pivot disc pivotally connected thereto. Sandwiched between the support disc and the pivot disc are a number of blades which are pivotally mounted to the support disc. The pivot disc includes fixed tracking pins which slideably reside in slots in the support disc in the blades. When the pivot disc is rotated clockwise about the central pivot pin, the blades are urged outward into an open position via a slot and fixed pin arrangement. The pivot disc can be locked relative to the support disc to secure the position of the blades.

    Abstract: An improved cold water soluble gelatin and a process of preparing it. The improved cold water soluble gelatin is prepared by a process which includes the steps of preparing an aqueous solution containing water, gelatin and sugar selected from corn syrup solids, maltodextrin, and mixtures thereof, maintaining the solution so prepared at at least one temperature in the range of 110.degree. F. to 180.degree. F. for a holding period of about 1 hour to about 24 hours, and thereafter drying the resulting solution. An acid is incorporated in the solution either before or after the holding period and prior to the drying step.The cold water soluble gelatins so prepared are characterized by improved solubility and ease of dispersion in water as well as by the clarity of the gels produced therefrom.

    Abstract: An improved cold water soluble gelatin and a process of preparing it. The improved cold water soluble gelatin is prepared by drying an aqueous solution containing water, gelatin, a hydrolyzed corn starch having a dextrose equivalent of 20-36 (preferably of the order of 26), an acid and amount of surface-active agent effective to increase dispersibility in the final product.
