摘要： A locking loose-leaf binder mechanism which has a curved housing retaining two hookplates, to which binder rings are attached. A control slide attached to each end of the housing includes one or two cam surfaces to engage the hookplates. In an embodiment incorporating two cam surfaces, one cam surface locks the binder rings in a closed position when the slides are fully retracted into the coverplate, and a second cam surface similarly locks the rings when the slides are fully extended from the coverplate. When the slides are neither fully extended nor retracted, the cam surfaces are in a neutral position and the rings may be opened. In further embodiments of the invention, a single cam surface may be employed, either to lock the rings when the slides are fully extended, or fully retracted. Each control slide end further includes a specially formed hanger tab to suspend the binder on a file-frame when the control slides are fully extended. This provides a rigid means to store the binder in a securely locked, inverted orientation. Binder appplications which do not require file-frame hanging capability may be fitted with only a single control slide.

摘要： A metallized laminate and process of manufacture wherein a metallic layer or underlying ink layer appears in a pattern on the laminate. The method in a specific embodiment involves the steps of forming a laminate by coating a heat stable release coat onto a carrier sheet; coating an ink layer in a pattern on the heat stable release coating so that at least portions of the release coat remain uncovered with ink, and applying a metallic layer over the release coat so that at least a portion of the metallic layer is in direct contact with and adheres directly to the release coat. Portions of the metallic layer may be removed by an etchant. A heat activatable adhesive layer is applied over the metallic layer. The laminate so formed is heat transferable from the carrier sheet to an article.

摘要： Cover folders for permanently binding a stack of paper sheets without the use of fasteners. The cover folder has a binder spline which contains a quick drying adhesive which is protected by a removable protective film. The film is removed just prior to use to expose the adhesive. The cover folder allows for quick permanent binding of the stack of paper sheets which are pressed into contact with the adhesive. In alternative embodiments the adhesive may be applied directly to the binder spline from a dispenser and the stack of sheets then inserted in the spline.

摘要： Two methods for mounting index tabs to coiled wire bound stenographic notebooks are disclosed. The first method involves providing one or more elongated transparent plastic envelopes having a plurality of aligned apertures adjacent a lower envelope edge, the apertures surrounding turns of the coled wire, the envelopes also having two open side portions and an upper closed envelope edge portion, and inserting index tabs through the open side portions until the tabs are contained within the envelopes. A "snap-on" version, marketed apart from the notebook, is disclosed in addition to tabs which are affixed to the coiled wire during manufacture. A second method involves providing a flat elongated base member having at least one area for recording indicia thereon, and having first and second catch members at opposite terminal portions of the base member, separated from each other by a distance slightly less than the length of the coiled wire, and reducing the length of the coiled wire by asserting pressure thereon while slipping a hook portion of the base member past the coiled wire and about a turn thereof to mount the base member upon the notebook.

摘要： A dry wipe marking board which is wall mountable and convertible to display a picture or painting while concealing the writing panel. The convertible dry wipe board is composed of a wall mountable support panel to which is secured a foldable dry wipe writing panel. When not in use the board may be folded along a hinge line to completely conceal the writing panel and display in its place a picture or painting which has been secured to the backside of the support structure. The conversion can be accomplished without removing the dry wipe board from its hanging position on a wall surface and without removing any component from the hanging structure. The dry wipe writing panel itself is preferably composed of a white pigmented polypropylene panel which is used for marking or writing thereon with conventional dry wipe marking instruments.

摘要： An electrosensitive substrate from which a metallized surface layer is selectively removed using electrosensitive printing to expose a patterned underlayer. The patterned underlayer may be randomly exposed, or exposed in prescribed portions. Tags, labels or the like of this description may be electrically imprinted with unique identification codes, such as serially printed alphanumeric characters. Such tags and labels resist duplication by conventional printing techniques. The patterned underlayer may be imprinted using inks of a variety of surface textures, resulting in an embossed effect in the metallized surface. Alternatively, a lacquer layer may be provided between the patterned layer and the metallized surface to achieve a uniform appearance of the metallized surface.

Servo circuits accept processor commands and direct operation of label feed and transfer elements. A transfer roller moves in a continuously variable manner to follow the contour of the article surface. A position roller precisely matches web movement to article movement, or enables controlled stretching or shrinking of the labels as they are applied to articles. A turret loads, indexes, and unloads articles for label application at two decorating sites. Indexing of the articles takes place as the turret is rotated.
