    摘要: Catheter patency flow-flush controller comprising push-button valve mechanism with fast flow flush path surrounding the valve member, normally closed by a valve element and valve seat interposed between the inlet and outlet of the internal passageway of the controller by a coil spring located external of the internal passageway, the coil spring also compressively retaining a resilient seal at all times about the entry way through which the valve plunger enters the controller internal passageway. Preferably, the valve member push-button actuator includes a top cap member with dependent skirt which serves also as an alignment guide during valve movement by sliding engagement with an upwardly open skirt associated with the controller housing. Other features of the invention are also disclosed and claimed.

    摘要: A device for giving a visual indication of the amount of residual ethylene oxide present in ethylene oxide treated solid hospital articles and other health devices. The amount of residual ethylene oxide is indicated by the difference in color exhibited by different sensitized areas of the device in the form of an opaque dark colored support member having bonded to its surface a thin film of a cholesteric liquid crystal composition in a solid film-forming binder. The film is made by laying down on the surface of the support member a solution or dispersion of liquid crystals which exhibits a change in color when in contact with ethylene oxide at a temperature from 60.degree. to 100.degree. F. in a solution of the solid binder, then evaporating the solvent. As prepared, the film is in a form adapted to be packaged with goods to be subjected to sterilization with ethylene oxide, a portion of the film being sealed within a transparent enclosure the walls of which possess a permeability to ethylene oxide no greater than that of the material of the treated goods.

Fastening and positioning means, such as pronged projections, located on the clip, securely position the desired pen on the clip. The recorder pen arm is inserted through the clip apertures, upon alignment thereof against the resilient urging of the clip, so that the pen is accordingly mounted to the recorder pen arm.

    摘要: Convenient disposable marker design facilitates manufacture of disposable markers at low cost within a wide range of configurations and writing capacities. Marker comprises tubular, plastic-sheathed fibrous ink reservoir material cut to predetermined length for a particular marker and capped at one end. At the opposite end, a tip cap with nib projection is sealingly mounted on the plastic sheathed reservoir material.In another form of the invention, the tubular outer body fits snugly over a tip cap projection and is sealed by an external sealing rib to flushly mate with the tip cap body. A metallic holder clip fastens the disposable marker securely to the recorder pen arm.

    摘要: Improved upper and lower paired pen markers adapted to pass over one another with minimum spacing utilize interchangeable pen cartridges which are generally flat and rectilinear with the nib of the upper cartridge being slightly longer than that of the lower cartridge. The upper cartridge is supported from above in a holder with a front overhang lip, a sidewall positioning holding member and rear spring clips. As the bottom cartridge holder supports the bottom surface of the cartridge it also includes a sidewall positioning holding member and rear spring clips. Mispositioning of cartridge and holder is minimized despite the generally flat cartridge configuration.

    摘要: An electrode for attachment to a patient comprises a flexible planar member, an electrically conductive member embedded in said flexible member and adapted for contact with the patient, a layer of electrically conductive adhesive applied to the conductive member and the flexible planar member on a side of the flexible planar member facing the patient. Through holes extend completely through the electrode and, optionally, may also extend through the layer of adhesive. Alternatively, a permeable electrode having a permeable member which allows a solvent to pass through to the adhesive may be used to eliminate the need for through holes in the electrode. The permeable electrode may also be coated with sodium chloride or potassium chloride and used in conjunction with an applicator containing an alcohol gel which liquefies upon contact with the sodium chloride or potassium chloride. A transdermal patch comprises a layer or compartment where the medication is stored and a layer of adhesive through which the medication diffuses. Again, a plurality of through holes are formed completely through the product and, optionally, through the adhesive as well. An applicator containing the solvent can be placed in direct contact with the top of the electrode or the top of the transdermal patch. In this manner, the solvent can be directed through the through holes formed in either the electrode or the patch to release the solvent and to facilitate its removal.
