Abstract: A process for inlaying features into a synthetic turf field is disclosed in which a portion of the field is first removed down to the substrate, leaving an opening. A layer of seam tape is introduced to the underlying substrate within the opening. An adhesive is applied to the top surface of the seam tape. A new section of the synthetic grass material, having the features as desired, is then laid onto the adhesive within the opening. A roller is introduced over the new section of turf one or more times to cause a portion of the adhesive material to infiltrate the pores along the bottom of the backing material prior to complete cure of the adhesive material. The four corners of the new section of synthetic turf are stitched to the previously placed turf to ensure that the corners don't peel upwardly during play.

Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide novel solutions, including systems, methods and/or software, for providing handoffs between cellular providers and VoIP providers. In some cases, for example, upon the initiation of a call from a dual-mode cellular phone, the cellular network (and/or a component thereof) may be configured to store the dialed number and/or substitute a predetermined number for the dialed number. The predetermined number may be associated with a VoIP provider's system. Hence, in a particular embodiment, the call may be routed (e.g., via the PSTN) to the VoIP provider's system, which may be configured to obtain (perhaps from an application server) the original dialed number and/or to route the call (e.g., via the PSTN) to the original dialed number. If the dual-mode phone subsequently obtains IP access, a VoIP connection may be established between the VoIP system and the phone and/or a handoff may be performed (e.g., in the VoIP system) to transfer the call from the cellular connection to the VoIP connection. Optionally, the cellular connection may be terminated.

Abstract: A nozzle is described for downwardly directing air from an air intake of a fiber draw unit into a longitudinal channel of the fiber draw unit for forming spunbond polymeric fibers. The nozzle includes an upper eductor connected to the fiber draw unit and a lower eductor adjustably connected to the fiber draw unit and below the upper eductor. The nozzle includes a nozzle cavity that narrows from a nozzle inlet to a nozzle outlet and includes a downward turn of 90 degrees or less. Air directed through the nozzle outlet flows in a direction parallel to a wall of the longitudinal channel.

Abstract: The present disclosure is directed to a method of forming a treated fiber. A molten polymer is delivered to a fiber spinning assembly adapted to form and distribute polymer streams. At least one treatment is applied in a liquid state to at least one region on the surface of at least one molten polymer stream within the fiber spinning assembly. A substantial portion of the treatment remains on the surface of the resulting fiber within the treated region. One or more regions on the surface of the molten polymer may be treated with one or multiple treatments. The degree of coverage may vary from little coverage to complete coverage of the fiber surface. The treated regions may be in contact with one another or may be separate and distinct. A nonwoven web may be produced with selectively treated fiber regions by designing one or more fiber spinning assemblies to treat selected fibers or to apply multiple treatments. The regions of the nonwoven web may vary in treatment type, amount, or degree of coverage.

Abstract: A die system for the extrusion of polymer permits external cleaning and maintenance without shutting down the operation. Removable die inserts are located on one or both sides of the die opening section through which polymer is extruded. The inserts are spaced from the die opening section, by a very small distance, so as to avoid interfering with the opening section. When molten polymer accumulates and burns in areas surrounding the die opening section, the inserts can be removed and replaced without interrupting the extrusion of polymer.
