    摘要: An anti-entrapment system for preventing an object from being entrapped by a translating device includes a sensor positionable adjacent to or on the translating device. The sensor has a non-conductive compressible jacket with a cavity, and first and second conductors positioned within the cavity opposite from one another. In response to an object pressing against the jacket, the jacket compresses from a non-compressed state in which the conductors are not in electrical contact to a compressed state in which the conductors are in electrical contact. The sensor has a compressible support either inside or outside of the cavity. In response to the object pressing against the jacket while the jacket is compressed, the support compresses to allow the jacket to compress further in order reduce pinching of the object by the translating device when the object is between the jacket and the translating device.

    摘要: An anti-entrapment system for preventing an object from being entrapped by a translating device includes a sensor positionable adjacent to or on the translating device.     摘要: An anti-entrapment system for preventing objects from being entrapped by a translating device includes a capacitance sensor positioned adjacent to the translating device and a controller. The sensor has first and second conductors separated by a separation distance and a compressible dielectric element interposed between the conductors. The conductors have a capacitance dependent upon the separation distance. The capacitance of the conductors changes in response to a geometry of the sensor changing as a result of either conductor or the dielectric element deforming in response to a first object touching the sensor. The capacitance of the conductors changes in response to a second conductive object coming into proximity with either conductor. The controller receives a signal from the sensor indicative of the capacitance of the conductors, and controls the translating device as a function of the capacitance of the conductors to prevent the translating device from entrapping either object.

    摘要: An electronic control system and a device is disclosed proving improved control and diagnostics of glow plugs as are typically energized in diesel engines prior to and during cold start and also during engine warmup, especially for motor vehicles under human operator control. These improved control functions result in: Increased life of the glow plugs, longer service life, greater reliability, a simplified maintainence diagnostic interface, greater diagnostic capability, reduced emission of undesirable hydrocarbons, reduced unburned fuel as white smoke, more complete fuel combusion, reduced lubricating oil contamination, quiter and smoother operation, increased engine power, reduced fuel consumption, and quicker engine warmup all by controlling power applied to the glow plugs based upon electronically controlled fixed and/or adaptive functional algorithms based upon input variables such as battery voltage, glow plug voltages, glow plug currents, engine temperature based upon algorithms which can correct for sensing system hysteresis and time lag, ambient air termperature ambient air density, ambient air humidity, fuel injector duration and timing, intake mass air flow, exhaust gas composition, exhaust gas temperature, alternator output, engine speed, engine torque, engine power, engine compression, engine age, fuel type, and the like for affecting an on and off cycling using open loop control and/or closed loop feedback control of glow plug power so as to maintine glow plugs more closely within an optimal temperature range specific to engine system operational conditions and consistent with improved glow plug life.

    摘要: Apparatus for providing a heated cleaning fluid to a vehicle surface having an inlet port for receiving an amount of fluid; a housing bounding a reservoir in fluid communication with the inlet port; and an outlet port in fluid communication with the reservoir for dispensing an amount of heated fluid. A heater element heats fluid that passes from the inlet to the outlet port through the reservoir. A heat exchanger in thermal contact with the heater element for conveying heat to the fluid within the reservoir has a strut that divides fluid entering the housing through the inlet port into two flow paths and elongated fins that extend outwardly from the strut at transverse angles that bound fluid flow channels for fluid moving through said reservoir. A control circuit energizes the heater element with a voltage to heat the heating element and the fluid passing from the inlet to the outlet through the reservoir.

    摘要: An anti-entrapment system for preventing an object from being entrapped by a translating device includes a capacitance sensor positioned adjacent to the translating device. The sensor has first and second conductors separated by a separation distance, a compressible dielectric element interposed between the conductors, and a non-conductive elastomer outer jacket encasing the conductors and the dielectric element. The sensor having a capacitance dependent upon the separation distance between the conductors. The capacitance changes in response to the separation distance changing as a result of the dielectric element compressing in response to a first object touching the outer jacket, and in response to a second conductive object coming into proximity with at least one of the conductors. A controller controls the translating device as a function of the capacitance in order to prevent the translating device from entrapping either object.

    摘要: An valve position sensor apparatus for measuring the linear position of an EGR valve including a valve stem portion is disclosed. The apparatus comprises an elongated sensor probe extending from a base and a tubular member slideably overlying a varying length of the probe. The base is adapted to be secured relative to the EGR valve. The probe includes parallel, spaced apart, coextensive primary and secondary windings having a transformer coupling. The tubular member is movable with the EGR valve stem and is comprised of a material adapted to alter the transformer coupling of the overlied windings. An AC signal is supplied to the primary winding thereby inducing a signal in the secondary winding, the magnitude of the induced signal being dependent on the transformer coupling. An output means monitors the signal induced in the secondary winding and provides an output signal related to the linear position of the EGR valve.
