Abstract:
A diamond-charged abrasive layer (3) of a grinding wheel has a convex profile over at least part of its length (L) in order to have greater resistance to wear. Also provided is a machine for grinding ophthalmic lenses which employs the grinding wheel.
Abstract:
An apparatus for the anaerobic filtration of waste water includes a filter of filling material through which the waste water to be treated is passed from the bottom to the top. The filter includes upper and lower superposed layers of filling material separated by an intermediate layer of material. The lower layer is in the form of an ordered arrangement of the material thereof. The upper and intermediate layers each include a loosely packed arrangement of the material thereof.
Abstract:
A protection part comprising at least two layers including an outer layer and an inner layer has its outer layer made of an aluminum alloy that is reinforced with particles of SiC, the SiC particle content in said alloy lying in the range 15% to 40% by weight, while the inner layer is made of an aluminum alloy that is optionally reinforced with SiC particles, the SiC particle content within the layers increasing from the inner layer towards the outer layer. The part is for use in protecting the leading edge of a blade, in particular a blade or vane in a turbomachine, a helicopter blade, or a propeller blade.
Abstract:
The present invention is directed towards an improved flexible hose (10). The hose (10) is comprised of at least a flexible material (28) and a reinforcing rod (12) positioned externally of the flexible material (28). Terminal ends (16, 18) define both the flexible material (28) and the reinforcing rod (12). At least one terminal end (16) of the reinforcing rod (12) is located short of the terminal ends (18) of the flexible material (28), so that the non-reinforced end of the flexible material (28) forms a soft cuff (20) adapted to be received by a hose fitting. Also disclosed is an improved method of manufacturing the flexible hose (10).
Abstract:
The system including a device (2) for applying an adapter (11) to a blank (1) for transferring it into and mounting it in a trimming device (3) controlled in accordance with trimming information. The system includes a device for acquiring the characteristics of a lens to be made, a device (10) for supporting the blank (1) in the device (2) for applying the adapter, devices (14, 15) for emitting/receiving radiation for analyzing the blank a device (4, 16) for acquiring the characteristics of the blank by analyzing a signal delivered by the emitting/receiving devices (14, 15) and a device (4) for determining blank trimming information for controlling the trimming device (3).
Abstract:
This machine comprises a train of grinding wheels (T) which is keyed on a shaft (2), and a blank-holding assembly (5, 7) designed to bring the blank (8) into contact with the grinding wheels. The said machine comprises, furthermore, an additional grinding wheel (9) mounted freely rotatably on a support (10), means (11) for actuating the support, which are designed to displace the additional grinding wheel (9) between a retracted position and an active position in which its axis of rotation (Y--Y) is parallel to the axis of the said shaft and in which the additional grinding wheel is in driving contact with a drive disc (17) integral with the train of grinding wheels, and means for bringing the blank into contact with the additional grinding wheel (9) when the latter is in the active position. The invention is used for the counter-bevelling and/or grooving and/or drilling of optical glasses.
Abstract:
A fluidized bed reactor for the biological treatment of a fluid includes granular treating material through which the fluid to be treated passes upwardly, thereby fluidizing the treating material, during which biological treatment is achieved. A homogeneous distribution of the fluid into the bottom of the granular treating material is achieved by providing a granular transfer material beneath the granular treating material, and introducing the fluid to be treated into the granular transfer material at a speed and under conditions sufficient to impart movement to the granular transfer material causing uniform distribution of the fluid and uniform diffusion thereof upwardly into the granular treating material at a speed sufficient to achieve fluidization thereof.
Abstract:
A horizontal-axis aerator for use in a waste water purification system includes a cylinder having a horizontal axis, a first series of parallel blades on the surface of the cylinder and extending in directions nonparallel to the axis, and a second series of parallel blades on the surface of the cylinder and extending in directions nonparallel to the axis. The directions of the first series of blades are opposite to the directions of the second series of blades, with respect to the axis. The first and second series of blades intersect each other, such that upon the aerator being partially immersed in a body of waste water to be treated and being rotated therein, at any rotational position of the aerator about the axis, a constant portion of the total blade length of all of the blades of the aerator will be immersed in the waste water.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a shielded double-coil multilayer assembly intended to be used in an inductive detector. This multilayer assembly comprises a plurality of stacked parallel separated layers, namely: a layer (C1) comprising a first shielding element for a first coil, a layer (C2) comprising all or part of a first coil, a layer (C3) comprising all or part of a second coil, a layer (C4) comprising a first shielding element for the second coil.
