Abstract:
A solid phase change ink melter assembly in a phase change ink image producing machine includes an array of a plurality of spaced apart fins, the array defining a top face for receiving the solid pieces of phase change ink, a bottom face for discharging melted ink, and opposite melter surfaces for melting the solid pieces in contact therewith. The assembly further includes a number of heat transfer devices extending through and in heat transfer contact with the plurality of fins, the heat transfer devices including a heating element for heating the device. The bottom edge of the fins defines a plurality of apexes which serve as drip points for molten phase change ink.
Abstract:
A system and method for BIOS and controller communication is provided herein. The system may include an information handling system that includes a central processing unit coupled to a memory. The memory may contain a basic input/output system (BIOS). The information handling systems may also include a controller coupled to a nonvolatile memory and a register coupled to the central processing unit and the controller. The controller may be operable to store a key in the nonvolatile memory; write the key to the register in response to a signal from the BIOS; receive a command from the BIOS; verify the command is from the BIOS using the key; and execute the command if the command is from the BIOS.
Abstract:
A system and method for BIOS and controller communication. An information handling system comprises a central processing unit coupled to a memory. The memory further comprises a BIOS. The information handling system further comprises a controller coupled to a nonvolatile memory, and a register coupled to the central processing unit and the controller. The controller is operable to initialize communication with the BIOS, and service commands from the BIOS. The central processing unit is operable to initialize communication with the controller, and send commands to the controller.A method for communication between a BIOS and a controller in an information handling system comprises initializing communication between the BIOS and the controller. The method further comprises encrypting a command using a key by the BIOS, and sending the command to the controller. The controller processes the command, and the BIOS receives the result.
Abstract:
A laryngoscope insertion section for a laryngoscope, which is typically a video laryngoscope, includes a lateral tube guide configured to retain an endotracheal tube in a plane. A viewing port for a camera or other image collector is laterally displaced from the plane of the endotracheal tube. The said plane of the endotracheal tube is aligned substantially in the same plane as a patients median plane and the tube can be advanced into the larynx using a natural curving motion similar to the motion used to introduce an endotracheal tube using a convention laryngoscope. In a preferred embodiment, the distal tip of the insertion section and a retained endotracheal tube will be located in the patients median plane during intubation. As the tube guide retains endotracheal tubes substantially in a plane, lateral curvature is avoided, reducing resistance to advancement of the tube.
Abstract:
A molten ink supply for a solid ink printing machine includes a container for storing solid ink pellets and a withdrawal tube having an inlet end disposed within the container. A vacuum generator is disposed at the outlet end of the withdrawal tube operable to draw a vacuum within the tube. A feed conduit is connected to the outlet end for receiving solid ink pellets drawn therein by said vacuum generator and conveying the pellets to a melting station operable to melt the solid ink pellets. An assist tube is provided within the container with a discharge nozzle disposed within the withdrawal tube at the inlet end and operable to provide a flow of air into the withdrawal tube to agitate solid ink pellets and facilitate withdrawal of the pellets by the vacuum generator.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to novel biomarkers such as histidine and ketone bodies and methods of use thereof for detecting preeclampsia in pregnant individuals and for identifying individuals at risk at an early stage of pregnancy.
Abstract:
Updating automatically generated playlists in response to media content being edited. Aspects of the invention associate a playlist type or other code with each playlist to define the structure of the playlist. When media content is added to or deleted from a collection of media files, one or more playlist types corresponding to the media content are identified. The playlists with the identified playlist types are updated to reflect the addition or deletion of the media content.
Abstract:
Providing resiliency to a multimedia application. A list of filters associated with the multimedia application is identified. It is determined if one or more filters of the identified list of filters are suitable for the multimedia application. The one or more filters are disabled if the one or more filters are determined to be unsuitable for the multimedia application. The one or more filters of the list of filters may also be presented to a user of the multimedia application as a function of suitability of each of the list of filters for the multimedia application. The user is allowed to manage the presented one or more filters.
Abstract:
A system management interrupt (SMI) security system includes one or more subsystems to define a first variable using advanced configuration and power interface (ACPI) source language (ASL) code, define a second variable using system management mode (SMM) code, generate a first soft SMI to generate a random value, update the first and second variables with the generated value, generate a second SMI to perform an operation, compare the values of the first and second variables and perform the operation in response to the first and second variables having a value substantially the same as one another.
Abstract:
A system for controlling a design process having a first design sub-process and a second design sub-process, outcomes of one of the first and second design sub-processes being linked to outcomes of the other of the design sub-processes by a relationship between one or more first design sub-process variables and one or more second design sub-process variables. The system comprises a user configurable interface between the first and second design sub-processes, the interface allowing a user to the system to control the design process by specifying which of the one or more variables are active variables which can have their domains modified by at least one process within the sub-process to which the variable belongs and which of the one or more variables are passive variables which have their domains determined within allowable values by the domains of the other variable(s) in the relationship.
