Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method for determining an acoustic property of an environment. According to the method a sound signal and at least two reflection signals of the sound signal (are received, and for each of the reflection signals a time difference between a time of reception of the sound signal and a time of reception of the respective reflection signal is determined. Furthermore, for each of the reflection signals, an angle between a reception direction in which the sound signal was received and a reception direction in which the respective reflection signal was received is determined. Based on the determined time differences, the angles and predetermined constraints defining arrangement constraints of the sound reflecting surfaces an arrangement of the sound-reflecting surfaces is determined.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for presenting the sense of an image is disclosed. First, a digital image is acquired and then various sensing tags are assigned to various sections of the digital image. The digital image is displayed on a screen. It is determined when and where a user touches the screen which corresponds to a section of the digital image. If a sensing tag has been assigned to the touched section of the digital image, the tagged sense is provided to the user.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a wearable electronic device, a viewing system comprising the wearable electronic device, a display device and methods for operating a wearable electronic device and a viewing system, respectively, wherein the wearable electronic device comprises a pair of glasses which can be controlled to change their optical state in a way to allow other and more flexible use of the equipment. The wearable electronic device for watching images comprises a left glass and a right glass which are adapted to change between a dark state and a transparent state of the glass and a controller operable to control the state of the glasses synchronous with a display of a plurality of images per second by a display device so that said left glass and said right glass are both in a dark state at the same time for a specific displayed image.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a mobile communication device and a method for operating a mobile communication device to activate or deactivate a function of the mobile communication device automatically. The mobile communication device comprises a user interface operable to receive an input of a user; an acceleration sensing section operable to sense an acceleration motion of said mobile communication device; and a controller adapted to obtain samples of a signal associated with said acceleration motion of said mobile communication device sensed by said acceleration sensing section, which samples constitute a time dependent acceleration pattern, wherein said controller is further adapted to activate or deactivate at least one function of said mobile communication device based on said time dependent acceleration pattern.
Abstract:
An automatic antenna identification system is provided that includes a connector to which a plurality of different antennas tuned to different respective frequencies or frequency bands may be connected. In addition, the system includes circuitry that automatically identifies which antenna of the plurality of different antennas is connected to the connector based on the respective frequency or frequency band of the antenna.
Abstract:
A stand for a camera device, the stand comprising an attachment element which is detachably fastened to the camera device and at least one support element which is displaceably connected to the attachment element. The support element is displaceable between at least two positions, a “storage” position where the at least one support element essentially lies up against an outer surface of the camera device and an “active” position where the at least one support element is displaced away from the outer surface of the camera device in order to provide a support for supporting the camera device in a steady orientation on a surface. The attachment element and the supporting element are furthermore arranged such that the attachment element remains fastened to the camera device during the displacement of the supporting element between its storage position and its active position. In this way, a stand is provided which may be very easy and convenient for the user to use.
Abstract:
A method and system for providing personalized application recommendations to users of electronic devices. Contextual information is used to build a personalized user knowledge base. The information stored in the personalized user knowledge base may be used to locate applications that may be of interest to the user.
Abstract:
A method includes detecting, via a first microphone coupled to a user's left ear, a sound, detecting, via a second microphone coupled to the user's right ear, the sound, determining a time difference between detection of the sound at the first microphone and detection of the sound at the second microphone, and estimating a user's head size based on the time difference. The method also includes identifying a head-related transfer function (HRTF) associated with the user's head size or modifying, a HRTF based on the user's head size. The method further includes applying the identified HRTF or modified HRTF to audio signals to produce output signals and forwarding the output signals to first and second speakers coupled to the user's left and right ears.
Abstract:
A wireless communication device is configured to communicate signals with a headset worn by a user. The headset includes a sensor that measures the orientation of a user's head to determine which direction the user is looking. The sensor sends that information to the user's device. The device uses the orientation information and a determined geographical position of the user to predict a destination location for the user.
