摘要： A magnetic tape recording apparatus having an ordinary recording mode and an editing mode in which an information signal is recorded additionally to information already stored in previously formed oblique tracks is provided in which a high degree of accuracy is assured for tracking servoing upon editing by forming on the tape a track area for tracking in an area at a predetermined position of every other one of the oblique tracks. After the recording apparatus forms a tracking area in a particular oblique track, the recording apparatus prevents its rotary head apparatus from forming another tracking area in an adjacent oblique track.

摘要： When a recording start executed in a variable-speed recording mode, at ST44 a signal having a variable frame rate is selected on the basis of a validity signal from among image signals having a predetermined output frame rate in which the images having the variable frame rate are contained and stored in a memory. If it is decided at ST46 that a phase difference between a write position and a read position in the memory has reached a recording start level, the stored signal is recorded in a recording medium at ST47. If it is decided at ST48 that the phase difference has decreased to a recording stop level, recording to the recording medium is stopped at ST49. When an end operation is executed at ST51, the signal in the memory is recorded in the recording medium to then end actions. The signals are selected and recorded, thus resulting in a smaller signal quantity. Further, if the variable frame rate is varied, video effects can be confirmed only by reproducing the recorded signals.

摘要： A non-tracking type audio and video data recording and reproducing apparatus and method adapted for use in performing an editing operation wherein data (overlying data) of a unit or group is inserted over previously recorded data (underlying data). During a recording operation, an error correction code(s) is added to the overlying data, the underlying data located in the area wherein the overlying data is to be recorded may be erased, and the overlying data for the tracks other than the first and last tracks thereof is recorded. During reproduction, the reproduced error correction codes and data of the unit of the tracks other than the first and last tracks thereof are utilized to obtain the overlying data of the first and last tracks which are not recorded. Such arrangement may prevent the erroneous reproduction of the underlying and overlying data at the boundaries of the underlying and overlying data.
