Abstract: A manual adjustment assembly for adjusting the height of a vehicle seat includes mounting brackets for supporting a seat bottom that is movable between a lowered position and a raised position. Separate adjustment assemblies can be installed at the front and rear portions of the seat for adjusting the height of the front portion independently from the rear portion. Or, a single adjustment assembly can be used to adjust the height of either the front or rear portion where the adjustment assembly includes a connecting linkage assembly to correspondingly adjust the height of the other portion of the seat bottom. The adjustment assembly includes a torque tube extends between the mounting brackets and is actuated by an actuator that selectively supplies rotational input to the torque tube. A drive link is supported on one end of the torque tube and is fixed for rotation with the torque tube as the tube receives input from the actuator. The adjustment assembly also includes a spring that operates with the torque tube and the drive link to assist movement of the seat member from the lowered position to the raised position when actuated by the actuator.

Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly includes a seat back supported with respect to a seat bottom and is attached to the vehicle by a mounting assembly. The mounting assembly has an inboard track assembly and an outboard track assembly that are both mounted to a vehicle structure with the track assemblies being spaced apart from one another. Each track assembly includes a first track and a second track supported for movement relative to the first track. The seat bottom is supported on the second track for horizontal movement with the second track as seat position is adjusted. A single locking mechanism is supported on one of the inboard or outboard track assemblies. The locking mechanism moveable between a locked position where the locking mechanism maintains the second track in a selected position relative to the first track and an unlocked position where the second track is moves with respect to the first track to a desired seat position. The mounting assembly further includes a manual actuator for selectively moving the locking mechanism between the locked and unlocked positions. A truss structure extends between the inboard and outboard track assemblies to provide structural support for the seat assembly.

Abstract: A vehicle seat assembly is attached to a vehicle support structure by a mounting assembly. The mounting assembly includes a first track and a second track supported for movement relative to the first track. This allows the seat assembly to be adjusted forwardly or rearwardly by a seat occupant. The seat assembly preferably includes a seat belt assembly that is supported solely by the seat assembly. Thus, all forces that are exerted on the seat assembly are transferred to the mounting assembly. An aluminum track assembly is provided to reduce weight and overall cost of the mounting assembly. The first track has a first pair of sidewalls interconnected by a first base portion and the second track has a second pair of sidewalls interconnected by a second base portion. The first pair of sidewalls each have a first arcuate bearing surface and the second pair of sidewalls each have a second arcuate bearing surface opposite from the first arcuate bearing surface. A bearing member is inserted between the first and second tracks and presents a bearing surface for engaging the first and second arcuate bearing surfaces. The bearing member resiliently supports the second track with respect to the first track.

Abstract: An apparatus for controlling multiple vehicle systems includes a single power supply that provides a direct current source. The power supply is comprised of a thirty-six volt (36 V) battery power distribution system. A converter is electrically connected to the power supply to convert direct current to alternating current. A plurality of induction motors are used to operate various vehicle systems. The motors receive alternating current via electrical connections between the converter and the motors. A central processor is connected to relays sending power to each of the motors and provides control signals to the motors based on input from control members used to activate each of the various vehicle systems. At least one sensor is associated with each of the motors to monitor voltage or current of the respective motor and to generate a diagnostic signal that is sent to the processor. The processor generates a warning signal when any of the diagnostic signals indicates that voltage within the respective motor is outside a predetermined range. A piezoelectric material is associated with each of the motors to provide an internal control signal for the motor. The piezoelectric material can be used to control acceleration or deceleration of the motor based on the rotational force of a rotor within the motor or can be use to activate an auxiliary winding in the motor based on mechanical input to the respective controller.

Abstract: A drive assembly for a seat adjuster is used to adjust the longitudinal position of a vehicle seat between a plurality of positions. The drive assembly includes a first track mounted to a vehicle structure a second track that is supported for longitudinal movement relative to the first track. A bracket is fixed relative to the first track and has an opening through which a drive nut is inserted. The drive nut has a threaded central bore and is rotatable between a first position and a second position. In the first position the drive nut moves relative to the bracket through the opening. In the second position the drive nut contacts the bracket to form a positive structural engagement between the drive nut and the bracket. A screw shaft has an elongated body with an external threaded surface that engages the threaded central bore in the drive nut to move the second track between a plurality of adjusted positions relative to the first track. Abstract: A support structure for a vehicle seat assembly which allows the seat position to be adjusted forwardly or rearwardly with respect to the vehicle.
