Abstract:
The present invention is a composition useful for coating the surface of paper wherein the coating composition is an aqueous solution comprising less than 40 wt % water and consisting essentially of a polyvinyl alcohol copolymer that is at least about 95% hydrolyzed, and a process for preparing the same.
Abstract:
Disclosed is a composition comprising, or produced from, an organic acid-modified ionomer and silica filler having oil absorption greater than 100 g oil/100 g silica. Also disclosed are articles produced from the composition such as golf balls.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein is a curable composition comprising a peroxide curable fluoroelastomer, an organic peroxide, a multifunctional coagent and an acid acceptor selected from the group consisting of carboxylic acid salts of bismuth and a bismuth oxycarboxylate. Cured articles made therefrom are resistant to volume swell in acids and in biodiesel fuel and said cured articles exhibit good heat resistance.

Abstract:
A phase transition golf ball comprises a phase transition material. The phase transition material may optionally include a microwave susceptor or an induction susceptor. The phase transition material preferably comprises an ethylene acid copolymer, or an ionomer of an ethylene acid copolymer. The performance of the phase transition golf ball, for example its hardness or compression, is adjusted by inducing a complete or partial phase transition in the phase transition material. The extent of the adjustment in performance is correlated with the extent of the phase transition. Preferably, the phase transition is reversible and repeatable and takes place at temperatures that might be achieved through the use of common household appliances. Also preferably, the phase transition material returns to its original state over an extended period, for example hours or days.
Abstract:
Provided herein are compositions comprising an ionomer and a polyamine or a tertiary polyamide. The polyamine and the tertiary polyamide have a molecular weight of greater than 500 Da and do not contain an ester moiety or a primary amine moiety. The polyamine comprises at least three moieties that are tertiary amines or hindered secondary amines, and the polyamide comprises tertiary amide moieties and no secondary or primary amide moieties. The compositions may optionally include a filler. Further provided are articles such as golf balls and films containing these compositions.

Abstract:
The present invention provides a method for recovering oil from a subterranean reservoir using waterflooding, wherein the flooding fluid used in the waterflooding process comprises water and one or more ionic polyvinyl alcohol copolymers. The use of one or more ionic polyvinyl alcohol copolymers is expected to increase the recovery of oil by improving both the oil/water mobility ratio and the sweep efficiency in reservoirs with a high degree of heterogeneity.
Abstract:
Fluoroelastomer compositions comprising fluoroelastomers having copolymerized units of a nitrile group-containing cure site monomer are cured with certain hydroxylamine derivatives. The hydroxylamine derivative is of formula R1(C(O))nNHOR2 wherein n is 0 or 1; R1 is H, C(O)R3, C(O)R4, C(O)OR3, or C(O)SR3; R2 is H, C(O)R3, or C(O)OR3; R3 is C1-C20 alkyl group, aryl, heterocycle, benzyl, 9-fluorenylmethyl, or CH2R4; and R4 is a fluoroalkyl group, with the proviso that R1 and R2 cannot simultaneously be H.
Abstract:
Disclosed herein are curable compositions comprising a free radical curable fluoroelastomer, a free radical generating compound and an unsaturated metal compound coagent. Such compositions cure well, exhibit good (i.e. low) compression set resistance and process well (i.e. have reduced polymer viscosity compared to similar compositions not containing the unsaturated metal compound coagent).
