Abstract:
A user interface with software tensing may be described. An apparatus may include a user interface module to display a channel lineup representing what is currently being offered by one or more channels. Each of the channels has one or more identifiers including at least a visual data identifier. The user interface module receives basic visual data for each of the channels from a first dedicated tuner. A media lensing module to increase a size of the visual data identifier of a channel of interest in the channel lineup when a pointer coincides with the channel of interest. The user interface module to receive detailed visual data from a second dedicated tuner for the channel of interest. The user interface module to replace the basic visual data of the visual data identifier for the channel of interest with the detailed visual data. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
An imaging apparatus that is configurable to operate in at least two modes. One mode is particularly suitable for still image capture, whereas the second mode is suitable for video image capture and other rapid frame rate applications. The image data in the second mode is smaller (lower resolution) than the image data obtained in the first mode. The reduction is accomplished by either digital scaling, cropping, or by a combination of optical scaling and selective readout of sensor signals. The simple digital scaling provides a fixed angular field of view for both modes of operation, while cropping alone gives a smaller field of view. Using the combination of optical scaling and selective sensor signal readout, however, provides a wider field of view for the second mode of operation while at the same time providing lower resolution images, thus improving frame rate in the second mode of operation. The embodiments can be used in a wide range of imaging applications, including digital cameras used for both still image capture and video.
Abstract:
A mouse may include an internal fingerprint identification unit. The fingerprint identification unit may be arranged to capture the user's fingerprint when the user's finger is positioned over a mouse button which is substantially radiation transmissive. Radiation directed at the user's finger through the mouse button may be captured for image analysis and ultimately for fingerprint identification. Thus, the mouse may be used to identify users who wish to access a computer system.
Abstract:
A scaling circuit residing on a single silicon substrate includes a buffer for storing a plurality of partially scaled data. A multiplier is provided for multiplying a weight signal with each of a plurality of input data to produce a plurality of weighted data. An adder is coupled to (1) the multiplier and (2) the buffer for adding each of the weighted data to one of the partially scaled data to produce a plurality of scaled data. When a first one of the scaled data is produced by the adder, the first one of the scaled data can remain in the buffer until displaced by a new data to be scaled such that the scaling circuit is directly coupled to an external bus without requiring any external buffering memory coupled in between. A method for scaling a block of data and transferring the scaled data to the bus is also described.
Abstract:
A user interface with software tensing may be described. An apparatus may include a user interface module to display an index list, a software lens list, and an aperture box. The index list may represent a list of available options. The software lens list may display a sub-set of the list of available options that coincides with a position of the aperture box on the index list. The apparatus may also include a media lensing module to increase a size of an option in the software lens list when a pointer approaches or coincides with the option. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A reduced complexity user interface is described. In an embodiment, a user interface module causes an animation of a pile of objects on a user interface display. The pile of objects to expand from a contracted form when a pointer approaches a boundary of the pile on the user interface display. The user interface module to determine two closest objects in the pile of objects that correspond with the pointer on the user interface display and to move the two closest objects to the pointer to visually indicate an insertion point into the pile. Other embodiments are described and claimed.
Abstract:
A method and system for automatically capturing user edits in a digital recording are described. The method involves determining a beginning time stamp for an edit segment in a digital recording and an ending time stamp for the edit segment in the digital recording. The method then receives an indication from a user whether to modify the edit segment for subsequent viewing of the digital recording.
Abstract:
A data flow processor includes a number of hardware units each having more than one mode. A plurality of hardware units may be connected together to implement a flow made up of a series of processes. The flows, initiated by a central processing unit, may proceed independently and substantially at their own pace. Thus, the flows may operate in parallel, independently with respect to one another. Each of the hardware units may be configured differently to operate with each of the different flows.
Abstract:
An image capture system comprises an image input and processing unit. The image input obtains image information which is then passed to the processing unit. The processing unit is coupled to the image input for determining image metrics on the image information. The processing unit initiates a capture sequence when the image metrics meet a predetermined condition. The capture sequence may store one or more images, or it may indicate that one or more images have been detected. In one embodiment, the image input is a CMOS or CCD sensor.
