    Abstract: Apparatus, methods, and systems for centrally and uniformly controlling the operation of a variety of devices, such as communication, consumer electronic, audio-video, analog, digital, 1394, and the like, over a variety of protocols within a network system and, more particularly, a control system and uniform user interface for centrally controlling these devices in a manner that appears seamless and transparent to the user. In a preferred embodiment, a command center or hub of a network system includes a context and connection permutation sensitive control system that enables centralized and seamless integrated control of all types of input devices. The user interface, which includes a visual recognition system, enables the user to transparently control multiple input devices over a variety of protocols while operating on a single control layer of an input command device. In an alternative embodiment, the control system also enables gated signal pass-through control while avoiding signal jamming.

    Abstract: A child-resistant closure and container package includes a container having a finish with an external thread and pockets in the thread. A closure has a base wall, a peripheral skirt with an internal thread and lugs on the internal thread for receipt in the pockets, and a spring element on the base wall for engagement with the container finish to bias the closure away from the container finish and resiliently urge the lugs into the pockets. A liner is urged by the spring element into engagement with the container finish. The liner may include a base with metal and plastic layers for induction-welded sealing engagement with the finish such that, upon removal of the closure, the metal and plastic layers remain secured to the finish and the liner base is removed with the closure. The metal and plastic layers may be removed by a user for access to the contents of the container, and the liner base continues to serve as a package seal during use of the package.

    Abstract: A device for indicating when the air within a tire is above or below an optimum pressure range, comprising a housing having a bore therein in which a piston is movable. The piston is spring biased toward one end of the bore and is normally held in a medial sealing position by air pressure from within the tire. In such sealing position, a sealing ring on the piston engages a sealing section of the bore to prevent movement of air along the bore; when the air pressure exceeds or falls below the optimum range, the sealing ring moves over a relieved portion of the bore and allows air to move along the latter to actuate a whistle carried by the piston. An electronic device senses the whistle and signals the operator.

    Abstract: A package that is made of a blown plastic container and a two-piece or composite closure which is secured to a neck portion of the container. The closure includes a molded plastic plug style closure with an inner annular member which engages the inside of the neck of the container, an outer annular member which closely surrounds the outside of the neck of the container and a top panel from which the inner and outer annular members depend and which spans the rim of the container. The second piece of the closure is a molded plastic collar which surrounds the outer annular member of the plug style closure and which is frictionally interlocked therewith. The bottom of the collar has an inwardly and upwardly extending flange which engages a bead on the outside of the neck of the container to interlock the collar and the container. Further, the collar has one or more vertical tear strips to permit the tearing of the collar to thereby permit its removal from the container, and thereby to permit the removal of the plug style closure from the container, and this tearing of the collar imparts tamper indicating characteristics to the closure and to the package which includes such closure. The container has a radial shoulder positioned below the bottom of the collar to prevent the collar from being moved axially downwardly on the container.
