Abstract:
A method of diagnosis or prediction of infection of a mammalian wound, said method comprising the step of detecting the presence of a cytokine selected from the group comprising procalcitonin, amino procalcitonin (N-ProCT), eotaxin, granulocyte macrophage colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), interleukins IB monocyte chemotactic protein-1 (MCP-1), macrophage inflammatory protein-1 alpha (MIP-1a), regulated upon activation normal T expressed and secreted (RANTES) in fluid taken from the wound. Also claimed is the device for use in the method.
Abstract:
A bearing component formed from a bearing steel, wherein the component has an outer surface and comprises through-hardened bainite and/or martensite and has a substantially homogeneous chemical composition, at least a part of the bearing component having a compressive residual stress profile comprising −25 to −1000 MPa at the near surface, wherein the near surface is defined as a region 500 microns or less below the outer surface.
Abstract:
A one-piece molded plastic flashing precisely fits outside corners of chimneys, dormers and roof offsets on pitched roofs ranging from 3/12 to 12/12 consisting of a horizontal roof plane, and a pair of vertical planes, angled with respect to one another to match with the pitch of the roof.
Abstract:
The vacuum floor brush cleaner is generally in the form of a rectangular three sided tray into which a vacuum cleaner brush attachment or floor cleaning unit may be placed or rolled. The bottom inside surface of the tray may have protrusions extending therefrom which engage the brush attachment bristles to remove dirt, hair, thread and other such accumulated debris. The tray may have an adjustable wire bar with protruding wire elements which can be raised and lowered depending on the vacuum cleaner brush attachment. In the case of rotating roller brush units used in floor cleaning units, the wire elements are of a length such that when the wire bar is at the appropriate height the wire elements engage the hard surface of the roller to remove entangled thread and other such debris. Rotating handles and gears as well as levers and gears or cams may be used to raise and lower the wire bar.
Abstract:
The present invention provides human, humanized and/or chimeric antibodies as well as fragments, derivatives/conjugates and compositions thereof with a specific binding affinity for interleukin-18. The invention includes the use of these antibodies for diagnosing and treating diseases associated with increased IL-18 activity, the latter in the form of a pharmaceutical composition.
