Abstract: Patient transport apparatus with defined transport height comprises a support structure and a litter that are interconnected by a lift mechanism. The support structure comprises a base frame and a plurality of articulable support members or legs. The litter comprises a litter frame and a patient support surface with articulating back and leg sections. The lift mechanism may comprise one or more actuators configured to raise and lower the litter between a lowered position and one or more defined raised positions. The Patient transport apparatus may further comprise a controller coupled to one or more sensors and the lift mechanism. The controller may be configured to define a transport height for the litter based, at least in part, on a characteristic detected by the one or more sensors, and to manipulate the lift mechanism to adjust the litter to the defined transport height.

Abstract: Internal bleeding systems, devices, and methods are disclosed that include a sensing module and a processing module. The sensing module has an ultrasound module and a communication module. The ultrasound module emits and receives ultrasound energy to and reflected from tissue in a patient and generates a reflected energy signal. The communication module transmits the reflected energy signal to the processing module. The processing module analyzes the reflected energy signal to determine if it indicates the presence of blood from internal bleeding in the patient.

Abstract: A person support apparatus, such as a bed, cot, stretcher, or the like, includes an exit detection system that has, in some embodiments, multiple user-selectable modes. A first mode issues an alert in response to a static condition being met and the second mode issues an alert in response to a dynamic condition being met. The static condition may be defined by an unchanging boundary that triggers an alert if the occupant's center of gravity crosses the boundary. The dynamic condition may be defined by a changing boundary that triggers an alert if the occupant's center of gravity crosses it. The changing boundary may change based upon the occupant's height, weight, BMI, vital sign, or other characteristic. The changing boundary may also change based upon a position of one or more components of the person support apparatus, such as a siderail or Fowler section.

Abstract: A reconfigurable patient transport system may include a patient support apparatus and a patient transport apparatus. The patient support apparatus may include a hinge member, a left support board, and a right support board each coupled to the hinge member. The left support board may comprise a left proximal segment and a left wing segment each removably coupled to a left distal segment. The right support board may comprise a right proximal segment and a right wing segment each removably coupled to a right distal segment. The patient transport apparatus may comprise a support frame and an intermediate frame coupled to the support frame. The intermediate frame may comprise a support deck configured to support a patient. The patient transport apparatus may further comprise a left siderail bracket and a right siderail bracket each configured for engagement with one of the wing segments of the support boards.

Abstract: A computer-implemented method and system for estimating fluid loss. A graphical representation of a container is displayed. User inputs to display elements may include incrementing or decrementing sliding markers to desired set positions. A first user input may indicate a volume of a second fluid, and a second user input may indicate a total volume of fluid. A first volume of a first fluid may be estimated based on the first and second user inputs. A graphical representation of the first volume of the first fluid may be displayed as a fluid level within the graphical representation of the container. A second volume of the first fluid contained in an absorbent article may be estimated based on a difference between a dry weight and a wet weight measured on a scale. A quantity of the first fluid may be estimated based on the first and second volumes.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a load cell, disposed between a base and a litter, that is configured to generate an output representative of a load acting on the patient support surface. The load cell is associated with a calibration reference symbol assigned to the load cell to define a calibration value for a parameter of the load cell. A user interface is configured to receive user input of a virtual symbol corresponding to the calibration reference symbol. A controller is configured to store a plurality of calibration reference symbols and a plurality of representative calibration values each associated with one of the plurality of calibration reference symbols, initiate a calibration procedure, determine a representative calibration value for each calibration reference symbol, calibrate the parameter of the load cell based on the representative calibration value determined based on the virtual symbol, and determine weight acting on the litter.
