Abstract:
Disclosed is a radio communication device, and more particularly to a method for estimating a channel and compensating for error occurring in the estimation procedure, for a device for performing a frequency domain signal processing, such as Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) The channel estimation method in a radio communication system includes the steps of: transforming a received OFDM signal into a frequency domain; estimating a channel frequency response (CFR) value from a result value obtained through the transformation by using a pilot signal; transforming the estimated CFR value into a time domain through an extended Inverse Fast Fourier Transform scheme, and detecting a channel impulse response (CIR) value; detecting a delay path position of a channel; modifying a non-ideal autocorrelation function; and compensating the estimated CIR value for error, through use of the detected delay path position and the non-ideal autocorrelation function.

The apparatus includes a transmitter including: a pilot adder to add a pilot signal to a data signal; and a guard interval inserting unit to insert a guard interval to the data signal with the added pilot signal, and a receiver including: a guard interval removal unit to remove a guard interval in a received time domain signal; a fast Fourier transform (FFT) unit to transform the time domain signal in which the guard interval is removed to a frequency domain signal; a channel estimator to estimate a channel value from the time domain signal in which the guard interval is removed; an equalizer to equalize the frequency domain signal based on the estimated channel value; and a pilot signal removal unit to remove the pilot signal in the equalized frequency domain signal.
Abstract:
An apparatus and method for orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) channel equalization are disclosed. The apparatus includes a compensation value setting unit setting a compensation value in the form of a diagonal matrix by use of a diagonal matrix of diagonal elements extracted from a channel matrix of an OFDM receiver, and a preset divergence suppression value, an initial estimation value calculation unit calculating an initial estimate value by use of a fast Fourier transform (FFT)-processed signal of the OFDM receiver and the compensation value, an equalization unit detecting a transmission signal to be processed by use of the compensation value, the channel matrix and the diagonal matrix, and a symbol decision unit determining a symbol for an adjacent signal of a transmission signal, which is to be processed among a plurality of signals output from the equalization unit, and providing the symbol-determined adjacent signal to the equalization unit.
Abstract:
A frequency synchronization apparatus includes: a correlating unit that obtains a first correlation value by correlating a known reference guard interval of an OFDM symbol and a reference copy interval corresponding to the reference guard interval, and obtains a second correlation value by correlating the estimate guard interval and an estimate copy interval corresponding to the estimate guard interval; a determining unit that compares the first and second correlation values to determine a first case where the first correlation value is larger by a pre-set magnification than the second correlation value, a second case where the second correlation value is larger by a pre-set magnification than the first correlation value, and a third case which is not the first case nor the second case; and a frequency offset estimating unit that estimates a frequency offset by using a correlation value corresponding to any one of the first to third.
Abstract:
Provided is an apparatus for estimating a delay spread of a multi-path fading channel in an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) system. The apparatus is applied to an OFDM receiver including a channel equalization unit compensating channel distortion by estimating channel distortion at pilot locations with respect to output signals of an FFT unit.
Abstract:
An embodiment of the present invention is a technique to process signals in a communication system. A channel impulse response (CIR) generator generates a time-domain windowed CIR from a received signal using a window function. A thresholder thresholds the time-domain windowed CIR. A compensator compensates window effect for the thresholded time-domain windowed CIR to provide an enhanced channel estimate in frequency domain.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus for controlling a modem of a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system is provided. The method includes generating at least one modem control information determined based on information related to a wireless communication environment, when at least a portion of the wireless communication environment is changed, updating a priority stored in a database of the UE based on the changed wireless communication environment and controlling the modem of the UE using the priority-updated modem control information.

A correlation apparatus and method for frequency synchronization are provided. A frequency synchronization method of a receiver in a broadband wireless access communication system includes acquiring a highest correlation value by conducting a differential correlation of a variable interval between a received signal and a reference signal and performing a frequency synchronization according to the highest correlation value.
