摘要： In an assembly for use in fastening a railway rail to an underlying rail foundation, a resilient railway rail fastening clip (1, 2,3) has at least one portion (1a) which when in use bears on, and extends substantially parallel to, a flange (301) of an adjacent railway rail (300), and retains an insulator (13, 13') for electrically insulating the clip (1, 2, 3) from the rail (300) when in use. The insulator (13) is held in engagement with the clip (1, 2, 3), which has a rail bearing portion of substantially circular cross-section, such that it can rotate about the longitudinal axis of the said rail bearing portion (1a). Unlike the prior art the insulator is self-aligning on the rail flange (301) when the rail (300) moves. One insulator (13, 13') disclosed has at least two load bearing surfaces (13a), such that it may be rotated so as to present an unworn load bearing surface (13a) to the rail flange (301). The thickness of material between the load bearing surfaces (13a) of the insulator (13, 13') and the rail bearing portion (1a) of the clip (1, 2, 3) may be made to vary between adjacent load bearing surfaces (13a), such that the insulator (13) can be rotated so as to adjust the height of the rail bearing portion (1a) above the rail flange (301).

摘要： In a railway rail fastening clip 1 for fastening a railway rail to an underlying rail foundation, which clip 1 is formed of an elongate plate shaped such that a central region 11 of the plate has in profile the form of a letter C, a first end region of the plate extending from one side of the central region 11 of the plate to form a substantially planar base portion 12 of the clip for engaging a rail fastening anchoring device secured to the rail foundation and a second end region of the plate extending from the opposite side of the central region 11 of the plate to form a toe portion 13 of the clip for bearing on a foot of the railway rail, such that in profile the second end region extends further than the first end region, the toe portion of the clip is provided with a throughhole 14 which is arranged such that, when the clip is in its operative configuration, part or all of the throughhole 14 lies above the foot of the rail, the throughhole being configured to receive a corresponding spigot 25 of a toe insulator 2 for electrically insulating the clip from the rail whereby the insulator can be retained on the toe portion of the clip.

When the pad is not under load, the first face is substantially convex in a vertical plane that is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the rail when the pad is in use.

The studs are arranged in columns, each stud being of substantially the same size, and the number of studs in a column in the central region which is closest to said edge region being greater than in a column closer to the centre of the rail seat portion. The studs are also arranged in rows, wherein the ratio of protrusions to free area in a row of studs adjacent to, but spaced from, the centre of the rail seat portion is greater than that in a row further from the centre.

Alternatively, or in addition, all the contact regions lie substantially at the same horizontal distance from the edge of the rail foot when measured perpendicularly to the axis of the rail and in the plane of the rail foot.

摘要： An electrical insulator for use with a rail fastening clip comprises a contact member providing on one side a substantially flat rail contact surface for contacting a foot of a rail and on the opposing side a clip contact surface for contacting a rail bearing surface of a bearing portion of the clip, the insulator also having retaining means for retaining the insulator on the clip in such a way as to allow rotation of the insulator about a longitudinal axis of the bearing portion of the clip. The insulator has stop portions for limiting such rotation about the longitudinal axis of the bearing portion of the clip to a desired extent. The clip contact surface of the insulator is convex, in a vertical plane which is perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the bearing portion of the clip, such that, when the insulator is attached to a clip having a flat rail bearing surface, a contact region between the flat rail bearing surface of the clip and the clip contact surface of the insulator is linear. The insulator is rockable about the linear contact region within the extent defined by the stop portions such that, when the rail contact surface of the insulator contacts the surface of a rail foot, the angle of the rail contact surface can conform to the angle of the rail foot surface. A rail fastening clip, suitable for use with the insulator and of the kind driven onto a rail in a direction which is parallel to a longitudinal axis of the rail, has a bearing portion having a flat rail bearing surface, wherein a detent, extending laterally with respect to the longitudinal axis of the bearing portion, is formed in the flat rail bearing surface, at a location spaced from a free end of the bearing portion of the clip, for engaging a corresponding abutment surface of the insulator to be retained on the rail bearing portion of the clip.
