A method of fabricating a dielectric layer for a plasma display device that is suitable for forming the dielectric layer through a simple process and improving a characteristic of the dielectric layer. In order to fabricate the dielectric layer, non-crystallized glass powder is prepared. The non-crystallized powder is deposited on a substrate after it is mixed with oxide powder.

A dielectric composition for a plasma display panel. In the dielectric composition, a SiO3—ZnO—B2O3 group glass is used. Accordingly, the dielectric composition is capable of meeting optical, thermal and electrical characteristic requirements of a dielectric layer and allows the dielectric layer to have a light weight.

The upper substrate structure comprises a sustain electrode formed on an upper glass substrate, a bus electrode formed on the sustain electrode, and an upper substrate dielectric layer formed over a lower part of the surface created by two electrodes and the glass substrate. There is also included a colorant having color properties of red, blue, and green colors, and a protection layer formed on the dielectric layer. The dielectric layer may include one or more colorants so that important properties of PDP such as selective brightness of desired color, color temperature, and color purity improvement can be controlled.

The present invention relates to a backplate for a PDP and a fabrication method of the same capable of uniformly coating the phosphor material in the inner portion of the discharge cell of the PDP based on the height of the barrier rib(the backplate and the space surrounded by the barrier ribs). In one embodiment of the present invention, the lubricant material may be coated on the substrate having the barrier ribs, and then the lubricant thin film is formed, and then the phosphor material is coated on the lubricant thin film. In another embodiment of the present invention, the phosphor material is coated on the substrate having the barrier ribs, and then a certain compression gas is sprayed so that the phosphor material is uniformly coated on the barrier ribs and on the bottom portion of the backplate in which the barrier ribs are installed, whereby it is possible to uniformly coat the phosphor material at a certain thickness irrespective of the height of the barrier ribs.

An upper dielectric layer in a plasma display panel that is capable of enlarging an insulation intensity as well as improving a dielectric constant. In the upper dielectric layer, a ferrodielectric thin film and a dielectric thick film are provided. Since the upper dielectric layer uses a ferrodielectric thin film with a high temperature stability made by a vacuum vapor deposition technique, it can minimize a chemical reaction to electrodes and a generation of bubble to keep a stable discharge characteristic. Also, it can enlarge a capacitance value to reduce a discharge voltage.

A plasma display panel including a barrier rib for separating a discharge space thereof into a discharge cell unit and a method of fabricating the barrier rib. The barrier rib is formed by utilizing an electro plating technique. Accordingly, it is possible to shield electrical and optical interference between discharge cells and to improve the radiation efficiency. The barrier rib fabricating method is so simple that it can obtain an improvement of the productivity and a reduction of the manufacturing cost.
